Hi I'm Carlos

I'm a Father of 3, and a College Student. I was raised Catholic and am the only one in my family who converted, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Carlos and I am 29 years old. I have 3 beautiful children and a wonderful wife. I go to school full time and want to be a special education teacher. I was raised in a typical Hispanic home with our religion being Catholic. My family really didn't go very often. I went through life working and thinking I would never get married or have a family. This all changed the day I met my wife, who was a Mormon. I have been a member for 3 years and I yearn for the day when my parents and siblings become interested in the true church.

Why I am a Mormon

I worked at a Homeless Shelter where I would come into contact with "Mormons" when they would come to help in the kitchen. This is the only contact I ever had with them. I met my wife and 2 beautiful daughters at the shelter and it changed my life. She was a member and didn't practice it much. When we got serious she told me she wanted to start practicing her religion again with or without me, she thought it important for the kids to have a foundation of faith. She told me she would not marry someone who couldn't take her to the temple and if that person wasn't me it was ok. She never forced or expected me to get involved with her religion. I went one Sunday and had a feeling I never felt. Missionary's started coming over and shortly after making Sunday a regular habit we moved into a different area. We continued to go to the "Mormon" church in that new area and on my 2nd lesson by the LDS missionary's, one asked if I would be baptized. I started crying because I felt the spirit strongly and knew its whta I needed to do without a doubt, so I said yes! I still struggle but I know this is where I'm supposed to be. I one day hope my family will see my example and the good in my life that's come from living the Gospel and want to be members of Jesus Christs church, right along side me. I know my Savior has protected me through car accidents and from the destroyer. I know he has a mission for me on this earth and that he loves me. I know this church is true and the happiness it brings to me spiritually and physically is beyond words. I know there is a living Prophet of God today and that the Book of Mormon is true. If your in doubt please get on your knees and ask if they are true, He will listen and give you an answer as he did me.

How I live my faith

I work at it everyday to become more like my Savior. I know he loves me and I want to please him. I attend church regularly and fulfill my church duties as best I can. I love to be in the service of my Lord and my fellow beings. I have served as a secretary for the men's organization in the church and I know many more callings are to come and I will valiantly serve my Savior wherever he feels I need to serve.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Carlos
If you pray sincerely, as I did to our Father in Heaven, you WILL know that this is the true church on this earth. You may get a overwhelming feeling of joy or peace as I did. Or it may be more subtle than other peoples experiences, so you need to make sure your mind and heart are open and ready to receive your answers. If you do this they surely will come.
