Hi I'm Karen

I'm a happy mother and a grandmother. I have lived in several states and now live in the Midwest. I love music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful man, and we have been blessed with four daughters, two sons, and six beautiful granddaughters. I love my family and enjoy participating in their activities and spending time with them. I work as a registered dietitian and try to help children be healthier. One of my interests is music, and I find great pleasure in playing the piano and organ. I like to be outdoors, to garden, to walk, and to enjoy the beauties of nature. I feel extremely blessed for the experiences I have had in life, for the opportunities to grow, and to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. o much to learn from others!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all of my life and had parents who taught me about Heavenly Father and Jesus. As a child, I felt deep spiritual feelings that Heavenly Father loved me and that it was important for me to follow Jesus Christ. Then as a teenager, I wanted to know more—to know if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was truly restored by Jesus Christ, to know if the Book of Mormon was true, and to know for myself if the teachings of the Church were from God. I prayed and pondered and felt deep impressions that it was all true. I know that Jesus Christ lives and loves all people. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that there are prophets on the earth again who speak for God. The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me peace, joy, and comfort for which I am eternally grateful. It has brought direction and meaning to my life and courage to face difficulties. It has allowed me to establish eternal family relationships and the opportunity to live with my family forever. I feel the love of God in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a disciple of Jesus and to do the things He has asked me to do. Each day I pray and study the scriptures to help me remember God and to strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ. To me, it is like plugging myself into an electrical current that gives me light and strength and recharges me. I also attend church services on Sundays to worship and to learn, I participate in the Relief Society (our women’s organization), and I serve others. I am a visiting teacher and get to watch over and help four other women. From the time I was 12 years old, I have played the piano or organ for church services or accompanied choirs and soloists. Presently, I play the organ for church services and serve on the Public Affairs Council to help strengthen relationships with others. I also am part of a Speakers Bureau to provide speeches as a service to community organizations. In the past, I have served as a leader in the women's, young women's, and children's organizations and have planned service events, women's and youth conferences, social activities, and leadership training. One of my favorite things to do is to teach classes on spiritual topics or on practical areas such as nutrition. Mainly, I try to live my faith by being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and hopefully make my community a better place.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We increase faith in God by truly trying to follow God's commandments, by praying, by studying scriptures, and by serving others. As we live a principle, we come to feel more deeply that it is true and it becomes part of who we are. Show more Show less
