Hi I'm Chase Flora

Im a missionary, a snowboarder, an engineer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of 4 siblings. I have 3 little sisters who are all also members of the church. I love volleyball, paintball, air-soft, motorcycles and cars. Im working on becoming a mechanical engineer and going into the automotive business hopefully owning one if not several companies. Currently i am on a mission in Richmond Virginia. While the humidity makes it feel like I am swimming everyday, I love the people here.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church my entire life. the whole time I was more or less just going through the motions trying not to stick out. when I left on my mission I realized that doing all this work, while receiving no compensation, was not worth it at all. I figured that I should really find out if this is the place that I should be in. i asked God to let me know if I was doing the right thing. the answer that i received was impossible to deny. Every once in a while i will question my faith as does everyone. But every time i read form the book of mormon and the bible i know that the Lord needs me here and that this is the right place to be.

How I live my faith

I live it by following the commandments. its really just as simple as that. Even though many people think that the mormons have way too many "rules," if God told you to do something wouldn't you do it?

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Chase Flora
Because God is a fair and just God he will ensure that all of his children have to opportunity to obtain all the blessings that he has for them. however not everyone has had the chance to receive many of those blessings. baptism is a huge blessing in itself, being able to be cleansed from sin, having that huge weight removed. not everyone has had that chance. that is why we have baptisms for the dead. God also wants us to always have our agency, so even though we are being baptized for those that have passed on, they still have the choice to accept it or not. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Chase Flora
the scriptures are the word of God. they are the road map to life. by following the map it is harder for us to get lost unless we disregard the map completely. life is also like a class, in order get a good grade in our classes we have to find out what the teacher wants and then do it, its that simple. with God as our teacher we need to find out what He wants, and we do that through the scriptures, then we just need to do it. the more textbooks you have for a class, or more scripture for life, the easier it is to understand what we are supposed to know and do. Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Chase Flora
I dont view tithing as us paying 10 of our income, it's more like god is letting us keep 90 of what is his. everything is god's and if all he wants back is 10 to help us grow closer to him, then im totally fine with that. tithing goes to help the saints build up the kingdom. everything that is done in the church is basically accomplished by us because we pay our tithing. How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Chase Flora
We pay for the missions usually ourselves. sometimes it is hard for someone that young to be able to some up with that much money and so the family and friends will help out with the expenses, but the church does not pay us to be out sharing the gospel. Christ told his apostles to take no money for their service. the gift of the gospel is free to all. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Chase Flora
Quite simply, yes. As the book of hebrews states, god is the same yesterday today and forever, therefore if he called prophets in the past, in order for him to be a god of his word he would continue to call prophets today. Show more Show less
