Hi I'm Katy

I am a mom of 6 kids. I home school. I am an RN. I love to read. I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I was born in Germany to an American dad and a German mom. We lived in Germany until I was 2 and then moved to the United States. I grew up with 5 other siblings in Wyoming. We spent a lot of time together as a family. After High School I attended a University and became a Registered Nurse. During this time, I also took 18 months to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was assigned to the Germany, Munich Mission. It was such a blessing to serve in a country from where my ancestors stem. About 8 years after High School, I met and married my husband Mike in the Bountiful, Utah Temple. We have now been married for 11 years and have 6 beautiful children. I love being a mom. Even though I am a Registered Nurse, I have choosen to stay home and raise my kids. They bring me so much fulfillment and joy. Some of my hobbies are reading, cooking, baking and singing. I enjoy playing the piano and spending time with my family. I especially enjoy traveling to new places. I work with the teenage girls in my church, and I think that has to be one of the best places to be. It gives me so much hope to see the strengh of Christian youth today.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. That doesn't mean I haven't had doubts. There were many times, especially as a teenager, when I wondered if what I had been taught really was true. Even after getting married, I went through a time of doubt. I remember talking to my husband about it. I was concerned that questioning my beliefs showed a lack of faith. His answer still resonates in my mind: "Asking questions about the truthfulness of the church is not the problem. The problems arise when people stop looking for the answers." I really believe this to be true. I have seen how asking questions, and patiently waiting for an answer has really helped to strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ. I rely on my Savior to help me in good times and bad. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has provided me the foundation I need to deal with any situation I encounter. I find peace as I follow the commandments. I know I am a daughter of God. I know that my Savior, Jesus Christ, loves me. I know that the promises I make now will allow me to return to live with my Heavenly Father and His Son. I know I can be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

The world in which we live is full of so many temptations and false beliefs. I find it imperative to pray many times a day for guidance and peace. I also find daily scripture study a necessity. I find time through out the day to teach my children about Jesus Christ and His teachings. I find fulfillment in helping those around me through small acts of service. I try to be honest in everything I do. I do not use the Lord's name in vain or use swear words. I want my speech to reflect the respect I have for my Father in Heaven and His Son. I dress modestly. I do not use tobacco, alchohol or drugs. I don't drink black tea or coffee. I sustain my church leaders. I attend church weekly, and I am actively involved with the youth in my church. My husband and I have a night every week where we spend time with our kids, called Family Home Evening. I listen to wholesome and uplifting music. I read books that help to edify and strengthen me. I attend the LDS Temple regularly. I work on strengthening my relationship with my husband through weekly date nights and daily communication. Although these are things the LDS church teaches us that we should do, I do them because I choose to. I am better able to feel the influence of the Savior in my life when I am living my life as He lived His. He was perfect in all that He did. I make mistakes on a daily basis, but I know that I can repent because of the sacrifice of Jesus. I love Him, and I know He loves me.
