Hi I'm Jason

I grew up in Idaho and now I am studying Aerospace Engineering and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student working on finishing my master's degree in Aerospace Engineering. I grew up on a farm and love being outdoors. I really enjoy fixing things and building the ideas that I have. I really enjoy outdoor activities like camping, rock climbing, caving, and hiking, although I do not have nearly the time to do it as much as I would like to. I also like motorsports like snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and motorcycling.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were already outstanding members of the church and I have always gone to church with them. At age 19 I went on a two year mission to the country of Taiwan. I have always known that the church was good and that it truly is the Church of God, but it wasn't until I went to a foreign country that I saw how important it is that I am a member of God's church. We live in a world today where people's morals are slipping and it is up to each one of us to do the best we can to live up to the high standards that our parents have cherished. I honestly and truly feel that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps its members live up to such high standards. It teaches that true happiness comes only from keeping these high standards and not succumbing to the pressures of society. Truly the way that Jesus Christ set forth is the best way for us to reach our potential for happiness. While in Taiwan, I saw many people that just went from day to day without any reason than to get ahead and make more money. I felt that many people were very unhappy with life. I was able to help people understand how living the gospel of Jesus Christ could make them happy. That in turn made me realize what a blessing it is to be a member of this church. I know that this church is true. I was reading in the Book of Mormon the other day and I read the 10th chapter of Moroni, verses 4-5 and I realized once again that after reading this wonderful book that I did indeed know it to be an accurate record of the people of the early Americas. But not only that, I also knew it to be the word of God that he wants us to know in these latter-days. I know that no one person could just make this up. It is indeed the church set forth by revelation to a modern prophet, just like in the Old Testament.

How I live my faith

Because I am single, I attend a Young Single Adult "Branch" which is a local church unit especially for young single adults. It is really cool because we all get together several times during the week to meet new people and have fun activities. On Monday night, we have "family night", but since none of us have families yet, we get together, share a scriptural thought, and then have some sort of activity or game or even do service projects for the comminity. It is a great chance to get to meet some really cool people. There are all sorts of people that come, from those who have been members their whole lives, to those who have recently joined the church, to those who are not members that are just checking things out. I really enjoy going to the singles branch because I get to associate with people that have high standards and know how to have real fun. I love going to church on Sunday as well. It is a chance to take a step back and really see what is important in life. I truly feel that I gain perspective and strength to go through the daily challenges of life. Life is hard and I know that I am not perfect, but I try to show my devotion to Jesus Christ by studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon daily. I also strive to do my duty as a disciple of Christ by serving people in the churh through home teaching. This is were we visit members of the church and make sure that they are doing well and that their needs are met temporaly. We also share a brief spiritual message and give encouragement. Also, I get the chance to serve at the local Bishop's Storehouse stocking shelves. This is a warehouse containing food and supplies for local needs, both member and non-members.
