Hi I'm Rick

I have lived in Idaho most of my life. I am married and a father of two very energetic kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a simple guy who still ends up being fairly complex. Just like everyone else. I love to read, play with my kids, play video games, camp, cook and bake. I have lived in Idaho for most of my life except a couple of years in Oregon, a couple in Tennessee and a couple in Hawaii. I have a very good life and the Lord has really blessed me. Not to say that I don't have tons of difficulties, like most people I have far more that I feel like dealing with, but things always turn out for the best.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active church going family that made study a priority. My Mom and Dad set a good example for me in their devotion to God and I found through my own study and analysis over the space of years that I had come to know something. I came to know that God the Father does live. I found a relationship with his son Jesus Christ and a peace and happiness that I really don't have the words to describe. I know that Christ knows who I am and has known me even before I was born into this world. I know that he cares so much for me that he has made it possible for me to develop and grow in my own weak and stumbling way. He has made if possible for me to repent and be made clean. He has made it possible for me to be truly happy. Not the brief feeling of fun, but that feeling of knowing how dearly precious we are to someone who is perfect. So precious to him that he would do anything for us that will help us to be better. My conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ was slow and steady learning from day to day experiences that taught me and still teach me today to trust God. The feelings that the Holy Ghost have given me, the answers to my prayers, the relief of repentance all these things and more tell me that God the Father and Jesus Christ live. These things teach me that God has reestablished his church, run by Him, to this earth again. I know he has called prophets again. I know that we are ever in his thoughts and that he is preparing all things for his return to the earth.

How I live my faith

I teach Sunday school class for the 12 and 13 year old kids. It is always a challenge, but always a blessing. I know that for many of them if not all, that they are at a point where they absolutely Need to learn of Christ for themselves and to not simply repeat what they have heard others tell them. I do my best to get them to think, study, ponder and pray about the principles that Christ has given us and how they apply to each of them as individuals. I am glad for chances to talk about my faith with my friends. My best friends are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but I love them so much I want them to be. I know what joy comes to me and I want to share it. They have been my closest friends since we were little kids and I pray that some time things will change and they will have a desire to study and discover for themselves the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There are times when I am discouraged when I see them making choices that I know will cause them pain or difficulty in the future, I my hope springs eternal in knowing that Christ loves them even more that I do and that he is working with them too.
