Hi I'm Tallen

I grew up in Idaho. I aspire to travel the world. I'm crazy about aviation. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

We began thinking we would never have children of our own. We endured a three year struggle together for this little miracle. I am looking forward to the due date of our baby boy! I will never be fully prepared for what is coming but the excitement is building! Just don't ask me what we are going to name him...ha. I'm a year shy of completing my undergrad, and I am now going to be working part time while going to school so that my wife can be a stay at home Mom. It is a happy and daunting time trying to prepare and make decisions now for what we want our home to be like and how we will help our children to grow up safe and strong. My faith is what gives me hope, and I rely heavily on God for inspiration on what I need to be for my family presently, and moving forward. Suddenly, it seems all things are possible, if we can just be patient with Gods perfect timing!

Why I am a Mormon

WELL... good question! My life began in a Mormon home. My parents were both members and they taught me the basic principles of the Gospel, as taught by the Savior. This essentially has nothing to do with why I am still a Mormon today however. There are values and truths from the church that I simply love. From my faith in God, I have gained a knowledge of the purpose of this life, the nature of God and everything else i could ever want to know to live a joyful life. I have sort of always known that what I was taught was the truth, one of those key thruths being that we are all truly sons and daughters of the living God. Although these things may seem just nice to say and you may be going, "well yeah, sure, if you say so...", The sole reason I am still a Mormon is because I came to know that what I was taught was true for myself; because i have prayed and asked God and have come to know that further truth from God was revealed on earth through the Book of Mormon, a record of ancient scripture given to a modern day "Moses" you could say; or in other words, a modern day Prophet named Joseph Smith who was given an ancient record on Gold plates known today as the Book of Mormon named after a prophet historian named Mormon who was alive around 400A.D. in the 1st century. It is the evidence of a "restoration of all things!" What I did to know the Book of Mormon was true was to follow the invitation in the introduction of the Book of Mormon which invites the whole world simply to read it, ponder its message, and to ask God if it is true! God gave me a sure knowledge in my heart that it is! And that is why I am a Mormon, as simple as it may seem "By small and simple things, are great things brought to pass." Because I know the Book of Mormon is true I know also that the Saviors church is again on the earth led by a Prophet with Jesus Christ at the head of it.

How I live my faith

I take it day by day. My life gets hectic fast when I forget to pray, and read my scriptures. I try to learn what the Savior did, because He wants us to live by his example. Basically, I simply do the best I can, I take the Saviors hand and hold on tight, especially when I am at the bottom, at my lowest of lows. I used to make the mistake of waiting till I fixed "it" enough to feel like I could be worthy of his help. This view, I learned, cheapened his sacrifice. Despite all I can do I am saved by His grace because all I can do is to choose to hold on to His hand. I now know, that He is NOT just waiting at the top of the pit with some reward for me waiting for me, waiting till I've done enough to earn it, He is at the bottom with us ready to climb up out of the pit with us; blessing us the whole way with the strength to DO and BECOME even as He is. It never seems that way in the moment of grief or pain or sorrow, but that's really what faith is for.
