Hi I'm Ron

I'm Metis Cree I joined the Church when I was 29, my wife and I have two wonderful children, I love my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m an ex-Police Officer and an ex-Aux Fire Fighter, I currently continue to work as a public servant and enjoy bringing a bit of sunshine to peoples lives. I'm a father of two awesome young adults, my wife and I currently enjoy being empty nesters as our children live on their own seeking their dreams and educations. I enjoy cooking, taking care of the "honey-do list" around the house and spending time with my wife and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church after several years of searching for a faith that I always knew was out there. Six years after visiting a non-member friend while she was attending BYU in Hawaii, the memory of the kindness and spirit that attended me as she introduced me to her university friends at a small party they put on for my visit, came back to me at a time I was really struggling with who I was and what was to become of my life. I was at that time single and working as a police officer and an auxilary fire fighter and I needed to know what my Father in Heaven wanted of me, because I had no idea, so I prayed and prayed. Shortly after that time a co-worker asked me if I wanted to go with him to visit his family on Vancouver Island, the day after we arrived he introduced me to a friend of his that had just returned from serving her Church Mission. Our eyes met and for the first time in my life I really felt and heard the still small voice tell me, this is the woman you are to marry, I knew in my heart that my prayer had been answered, my direction was clear. I returned home and met with the Missionaries and after the third lesson I asked them when they were going to teach me a principle of the Church I hadn't already figured out. I was baptized a month later, six months later my wife and I were married, a year after that we were sealed in the Seattle Temple. We now have two children, our son 22 and our daughter 20, I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I can't imagine my life without it.

How I live my faith

I'm currently the Ward Mission Leader for our Ward and absolutley love working with the full-time Missionaries and helping those that are seeking the truth come unto Christ, as was done for me many years ago when I was looking. Attending my regular Sunday Church meeting brings me back to center and prepares me for my week ahead and reminds me who I am, a child of God.
