Hi I'm Ileana

I'm a Brooklynite, a journalist, and a glass half full type of person. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Ileana and I'm a journalist and a graduate from NYU. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and I'm grateful for having been able to grow in such a diverse community. Needless to say, I'm a proud New Yorker. I speak fluent Spanish and I love being able to do that.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have felt, heard, and can testify of the fullness of the Gospel. I'm a Mormon because I know that there isn't anything more beautiful and pure than Christs' teachings and that they can bless the lives of so many like it did mine. I'm eternally grateful to have been truly converted to the church and for the opportunity that I had to obtain a testimony of my own. Over time, my testimony keeps growing because of everything that I get to experience being a member of His church. I know that Heavenly Father loves me so much that he sent His beloved Son Jesus Christ to the Earth to die for EVERYONE'S sins and that means the world to me! I'm a Mormon because I know that though there may be fiery trials of faith, God will be with me always and in all ways. I know that this church is true because I've seen it change my life along with my families life. I have witnessed the miraculous wonders it brings into people's lives. I know all of these things are true because I have prayed about them and have received personal revelation that they are true. I thank God that he has brought such joy and peace of mind into my life. I'm a Mormon because I love God and Jesus Christ and I love all that they have helped me achieve. I know that sharing this beautiful message is essential and there is not a doubt in my mind that, if truly sought, anyone can receive an answer.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving it enough that I make it a part of my daily decisions. Being a member of the church means acknowledging that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and then living our life through that acknowledgment. I follow Christ's example and let His light shine through me by being the best that I can be. I live my faith by setting high standards and not lowering them for anything or anyone. I believe that standards like not swearing, dressing modestly, not drinking alcohol nor smoking have and will continue to bless my life. God does not expect us to be as perfect as Jesus, because that would be impossible, but He does want us to have the "willingness” to turn our faith into action. I also live my faith by sharing these teachings whenever I can. I love my faith and I think visible proof of my faith is one of the best ways of becoming Christ-like.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Being a Poltics major, this question precisely interests me. It is very important to acknowledge the Church's political neautrality. The church's only mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. That being said, electing politicians isn't something the Church as a whole does. However, we are encouraged to vote in government elections as it is a civic duty and a sacred responsibility. It is up to each individual to learn and pray about these things. Show more Show less
