Hi I'm Mike

I enjoy family. I'm a son, a brother, a husband, a dad, a grandfather, a fisherman and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have always wanted a family of my own. The family i grew up in was great enough (thanks be to my mom and dad that still live today) but I wanted it to be my own. I knew I needed a chance at my own family and I could hardly wait. After Highschool and a factory job I realized I needed college. I went to MIT on my own, majored in Electronics. I worked odd jobs and funded everything alone. It was at college that I heard about the "Mormons". At age 21 I joined the church and went back to Iowa. I had a good job at the U of I, Radiology Dept. Then I decided to serve a Mission and was called to serve in Norway, "Land of the midnight Sun". All this helped prepare me for what I wanted most... my family. I returned to Iowa and joined the corporate America scene with Xerox and married Debbie. She has given us 7 children and 36 years of family. I went back to college and became a Certified Dental Technician. I have since owned a dental lab and do yet today. We have our three daughters and four sons we also have 9 grandchildren and we are growing. Debbie and I are best of friends and in Love.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that Family is why we are here. When my brother died at the age of seven I sought after understanding and wanted to know why... the answer didn't come to me then as a eleven year old boy. I was a football jock in highschool and loved to date. When I went to college the dating stopped and I missed the relationships which made me more aware of how much I missed Family. My roomate at college was a Ute Native American from Colorado. We were like brothers! He is actually the one that let the mormon missionaries in our apartment and was very interested in speaking with them, not me. I had no interest. One day I decided I would listen just a little. I was challenged to read The Book of Mormon. My roomate was and he wouldn't put it down. That became my feeling also. I was given the "Moroni Challenge" and I put it to test. Another young man put it this way... I know what I saw and I know God knew what I saw and I couldn't deny it. It was an answer to my prayers, undenieable, I know what I felt. I know all mankind can feel the same, to know. I served a mission in the middle of all my desires for family for several reasons. I have been given much. I wanted to return a portion. I was called to serve by my Savior through a Prophet. I know my Savior lives. I knew serving would make my family stronger.

How I live my faith

Today I continue to operate a dental lab and one of my sons is training to take over when I retire. I also am a associate instructor at the Dental College. I work mainly with Freshman and Sophmore Dental Students, helping them with lab proceedures. I am active in my congregation and several others in the southeastern part of the state of Iowa. I have the opportunity to speak at other locations during sacrament meeting and look forward to sharing my testimony of the truthfulness of what we are about. Debbie and I try to visit our grandchildren as often as we can and we hope to serve a couple missions for the church when we retire. I enjoy fishing, my dad taught me river techniques for channel cat, my college roomate taught me fly fishing and my accountant friend taught me the art of walleye jigging in Canada. We are both mormons and we like taking our friends Walleye fishing to Canada. I try to be a good example and I get better at it as I grow older. I love my family and seeing them grow.
