Hi I'm Kara

I was born in Eastern Canada and grew up in Western Canada. I've lived in the US as well. I'm a dual citizen. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Canada and have lived here almost my entire life. The only exception is the four years I spent going to Brigham Young University in Utah. I graduated from BYU in April 2010 with a BS in Geography. I have spent a lot of time traveling and love experiencing new places and cultures. One trip that was particularly meaningful to me was when I volunteered at an orphanage in Ecuador. It opened my eyes to a lot of things and made me realize how incredibly blessed I am. I currently work for a bank as a Business Analyst and love what I do. I plan on going back to school to study International Development. I love to ski and do almost anything outdoors. I also love music, and play the flute. I dabble on the piano and enjoy singing as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into this church, but it wasn't until I was about 15 years old that I knew the church was true. My testimony came from a sincere desire to know for myself that Jesus is the living Christ and the Book of Mormon is true. I have felt the Holy Ghost bear witness to my heart and mind many many times and I cannot deny the truthfulness of this Gospel. Because I am a Mormon, I know who I am and where I am going. Because I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, I am happy. Because I live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I am blessed. Throughout my life, I have encountered many people who have tried to convince me that I am wrong to believe what I do. Although it is discouraging that people do not understand, it does not change my opinion. I am a daughter of God and because I follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, my life is full of joy.

How I live my faith

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives everyone such a great opportunity to serve each other and our communities. I have been called to be a teacher for one of the classes that we attend each Sunday. This opportunity has allowed me to strengthen my own testimony of the Gospel Principles and in turn, strengthen others. I have also had the opportunity to work with the youth of this church in a summer camp called Especially For Youth that is put on by the church. It allows for the youth to gather and strengthen friendships with people from all over the world. They learn more of the Gospel. Testimonies are formed, built, and strengthened during this one week program. I love being part of a church that is organized and allows all to participate and grow together. There are so many programs that are designed for this and I never feel alone in the world. I know that I have a network of people that are willing to help me out wherever I go in the world because the church is organized around the globe and teaches us to be charitable to everyone.
