Hi I'm Susan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have the priveledge of staying home with my 4 daughters. Before I had my first daughter I worked as a Dental Assitant. When I quit, I wondered what I would do on those days I was bored as a stay at home mom. It has been 13 years and I am still waiting for that boring day to come. For fun I love to excercise, camp, hike and go to lunch with my sisters and friends. My favorite thing to do though is read. I have been in the same book club for 8 years. We meet monthly and I think I have only missed 3 or 4 in all those years. These women and I have become very close through the sharing of ideas, experiences and a lot of great times.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was Mormon and was taught the gospel at home and at church. When I was in High School, my dad moved out of state to start a new business, but a year later my parents' rocky marriage ended and they divorced. It was a difficult time for me. I started to feel really dead inside. I began taking risks I wouldn't have normally just to feel excited about something. I realized it didn't make me happy. The only way I knew how to be happy was by following the example of our Savour Jesus Christ. I learned that he will never leave us, it is only us that distance ourselves from him. I began praying and reading my scriptures again. Going to church became something I looked forword too so that I could partake of the sacrament and feel the love that MY savoiur has for me. I also know the Book of Mormon to be true. So I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet sent by God to restore His gopel to the earth. I love to read the Old testament. I used to think it was about an angry God that punished his children for their disobedience. But the more I read and study it, I find a loving Father that wants the best for his children. The New Testament is such a gift. It's amazing to me that we can read about the time when Jesus actually walked the earth, and the things he taught . The Book of Mormon is another testament that Jesus Chirst is real, that he atoned for our sins and that because of the atonement he came to know me personally; not just my sins but also my physical pains, and my every emotion so that when I come to him, he truly knows how I am feeling and how to comfort and bless me. I also know that we are not on this earth by accident, but that we are here to live and serve in families. We are here to find joy by helping others, and live righetously so that we can live with our Heavenly Father again for eternity. I love to read the scriptures and there is such a peace, and love that I feel when I take the time to read them.

How I live my faith

At church I have the priveledge of being responsible for the 150 children that come to church. I have learned that I may not be qualified for the jobs they ask me to do at church, but the Lord is always willing to help and this is His church so as long as I live so that I can hear the promptings of the spirit, the children will be taught what they need to know. There are many amazing people that I serve with and wonderful teachers that love the kids in their classes. I believe that living my Faith includes not judging others for where they are in their lives. We are all here to learn and grow and there are so many things I can learn from people of other faiths, nationalities, ages, and abilities.
