Hi I'm Mary

I love college, I like being outdoors, and I pull out of sulky moods generally by eating sushi or going for a run.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have so far completed my junior year of college in Boston. I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, snowboarding, and nutrition. My parents are converts but I have been a member my whole life. I lost my Dad to cancer when I was 11. I attended three different high schools. I love exploring food. I love change. I love pushing my strengths and abilities (physically, mentally and emotionally) to their max. And I believe in living a balanced life of hard work and hard play.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know without a doubt that Christ is the head of this Church. I have felt the Holy Ghost testify of that truth over and over. The doctrines taught by Jesus Christ during the New Testament times are again being re-taught in their complete form through our current prophet, Thomas S. Monson. I know that Joseph Smith was called of God to be His prophet in these days which means I cannot deny that The Book of Mormon is a real record and that the stories it contains truly occured. I have come to these conclusions through trial and error. Everytime that I tried to live my life the way I thought was best for me, it never went as well as if I first consulted with the Lord. I had to do things wrong to be convinced to do things right. I'm a Mormon because when I do things right it's because I am following the standards set by Christ, through His prophet. I am also a Mormon because my parents would not have devoted their lives to something that isn't real or true. Both have served in incredibly time consuming positions for the church, without pay, and only the true church run by Jesus Christ could ask so much of people and actually receive it.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My mission will last eighteen months. During this time period I teach anyone who has a desire to learn how it is we are to return to our Heavenly Father. I live my faith during this time period by trying to serve everyone I see and by teaching the same message that Christ taught while He was on the earth. Before (and during) my mission I lived my faith by following God's commandments to the best of my ability. I know that I am happiest when I follow the Prophet, the Holy Ghost, and my Heavenly Father's guidance. I also live my faith by sharing the knowledge that I have with anyone who is interested because I know that He wants all of His children to come to know Him.
