Hi I'm Scottie

I was born and raised a New Yorker. I love everything and anything New York i.e. Yankees, musicals, good food, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. I love camping, snowboarding, rock climbing, sailing, playing soccer and racquetball. Anything to get me out and about I love to do. I am a marathon runner and I am currently training for my first triathlon. I am also an Engineer so I love taking things apart and trying to make new things from spare random parts. I love to learn and enjoy creating new things. Most of all I love being a dad. My wife and I were blessed with a baby boy 2 months ago and he is our own special treasure. Life is exciting and we have no idea how things will work out as my wife finishes her last year of MBA school with a newborn and as I continue to work full time as an Engineering Lab Technician. We are excited for the future and all of life's challenges that will come.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that our Heavenly Father lives, I know that the Savior is real and he lives as well. That Christ's sacrifices were made for me specifically as well as for the entire world throughout time. I know with the Holy Ghost, Heavenly Father and Christ commune with me, as they do with all of their children. I have personal experiences, where I have felt their love and felt it strongly. Once I knew of their presence and desire to be a part of my life, I was able to rely on their help and guidance. Then I learned of Heavenly Father's plan of Salvation, the essential reason why we are here. When I came to the realization that we are here to progress and live his Gospel, I knew that I would do anything and everything Heavenly Father would ask of me. And that is why I was baptized and why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith daily. My wife and I pray as a family every morning. We read the Bible or the Book of Mormon every night before we go to bed. In all my actions throughout the day I have the Savior on my mind. I am honest and loyal in all my doings. Trying to live like the Savior helps me when I need to make decisions like, when the cashier gives me too much change, or when I want to break the speed limit, or when there are inappropriate things on television. My wife and I are full tithe payers and so we donate 10% of our income to the Lord. My wife and I also love to attend the temple and go there monthly, if not more. Also I have been blessed to serve in my congregation's bishopric. One other member and I assist the Bishop in all the workings of the ward. We work together to put together our Sunday service (topics, speakers, etc.) and we reach out to the members in the ward and make sure everyone is taken care of (financially, spiritually, emotionally and physically). We also pray deeply and honestly for inspiration from the Lord to guide us as we assign roles and jobs within the church to the attending members. I love working in the Bishopric and doing the Lord's work. There is no work that is more rewarding. He has surrounded me with great faithful servants of His to make the work enjoyable and I cherish it.
