Hi I'm Gerald

I grew up living different places around the United States. I have a great family and work at my own business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of six children; three beautiful daughters and three handsome sons. I love this wonderful world we live in and enjoy anything I can do outdoors - riding my bike, fishing, camping and skiing. I love to travel and see different people and places and to enjoy the beauty of our world. I have been in the healthcare profession since my teen age years and now own my own business, helping to care for the elderly. I love to work with my hands and make and fix things. In the summer time I have a garden that helps me to unwind after work and provides fresh food for our family.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a Mormon family, I encountered the same choices that many people face as they grow to adulthood. I determined early in my life to follow the teachings of the Savior and His church. Through much study, pondering, and prayer I have gained a testimony of His gospel and the truthfulness of this church. I hold the holy priesthood and have had the great joy with it to bless my family on various occasions. I am grateful for the temple and the work we do there. The Savior's gospel and temple ordinances offer me the hope of being with my family forever, and that hope gives me much happiness and strength. Through trials and challenges in my life, I have found that the principles of the Lord's gospel really work. I have found great peace and strength to go on in the midst of very difficult times. I know the Lord loves me and that God is my Heavenly Father and is interested in my success and happiness. I love the privilege of praying to my Heavenly Father every day and know that He is listening and answers my prayers in ways that will make me the happiest I can be.

How I live my faith

I try to study in the scriptures and pray every day. I find that as I do this, the answers that I need in my daily life come to my mind and I am able to make decisions that I need to with confidence. I was raised in a musical home and my siblings and I each learned to play the piano plus another musical instrument. I currently work with the music in our ward; leading the singing of hymns each Sunday and planning special musical numbers that will invite the Lord's Spirit into our meetings. I also have the opportunity to visit two families each month and help encourage them to live the Gospel faithfully. I have many friends at church and love to be with them on Sundays and on other occasions when we get together. I love them and I know they love me and my family. We provide a wonderful safety network for each other amid the trials and dangers of this life. In our family we try to read scriptures and pray together daily with our children. This provides a protection for each of us as we go out into the world every day. We try to do things together as a family as often as possible, but encourage our children to pursue their own interests as well and support them as they do.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Gerald
I love to read the scriptures because they contain the words of God to His children. I find answers to many of the questions that come into my mind and my life. Often I feel that a particuar passage was written just for me because it speaks to me so powerfully. I especially enjoy reading of Christ's life and teachings in the New Testament. The Book of Mormon has given me great understanding of God's great plan of happiness for His children, why we are here on the earth, and what we must do to return to Him. Show more Show less
