Hi I'm Michael

I was born in Côte d'Ivoire, study geology and coach a local lacrosse team. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student. I love to play lacrosse, ping-pong and soccer. I scuba dive and dream of building a tall ship with my brothers. I am studying Geology and Spanish. I love rocks, minerals and fossils and I have an awesome rock collection. I work as a Spanish teacher and lacrosse coach. I also love playing games with friends, service, hiking and basically anything outdoors. I spent the first years of my life traveling the world with my family, living in Cote d'Ivoire, El Salvador and Russia. When I was 13 years old my family settled in Utah. I grew to love the mountains around my home. Later when I lived in Chile I was exposed to the beautiful landscape there. This contributed to my decision to study Geology.

Why I am a Mormon

Simply, I am a member of this church because I love Jesus Christ and want to follow him. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that He restored His church. I know that God has not ceased to be a God of miracles. He can reveal His truth now just as easily as in times past. God answers our prayers, especially when we want to know the truth and know His will for us. I took His name upon myself by a valid authorized baptism, a covenant where I promised to follow Him and keep His commandments, and in return I received forgiveness of my sins, a new start and the promise that His spirit would always be with me. I have received many blessings from striving to live like Him.

How I live my faith

As I grew up, I tried to keep the promise I made with God to keep His commandments. I did so by learning of Him from the scriptures, sunday school, seminary and youth activities. I tried to obey my parents and serve my peers. I prayed to know the truth of the gospel and received answers that have helped me follow the path that Jesus wants me to follow. When I was 19, I served a 2-year mission in Chile. It was a great experience and I don't regret one second of it. I am in contact with the many friends I made in Chile and continue striving to help them live the gospel. Now I am getting to know and serve my neighbors and trying to share the light I have received with them. I am studying Geology and Computer Science to be able to provide for my future family. I help missionaries prepare to teach the gospel effectively and help them to speak and write in Spanish. When I have the chance, I love to accompany the missionaries and share the gospel with people who are learning about the church.

Are Mormons Christians?

Michael
We are Christians. I believe in Jesus Christ and have a personal testimony that He lives and is our Savior. I have spent years testifying to others that He lives. The original church of Jesus Christ was lost when His apostles were killed. The priesthood, or authority to lead His church, was also lost. The loss of priesthood authority led to confusion and the formation of many churches. When the timing was right Jesus appeared to a young man named Jospeh Smith in 1820 to instruct him how to restore His church. Through many angelic revelations Jesus restored HIs church, calling prophets and apostles and restoring the priesthood authority to the earth. In his wisdom God prepared a way for all to come to know the truth of this message for themselves. He revealed to Joseph Smith an ancient record upon gold plates which he translated by the gift and power of God. This record, known as The Book of Mormon contains a record of God's dealings with his children on the American continent, as well as the account of Jesus Christ's personal ministry among them after His resurrection. The Book of Mormon's purpose together with the Bible is to persuade all men to believe in and come unto Christ. The Book of Mormon is the foundation for knowing that Jesus Christ has restored His church in our time. The Lord promised that all who read it and ask Him in prayer may know the truth for themselves. A true Christian would be delighted to hear and discover that this message is true. Show more Show less
