Hi I'm Steve

I lived in Vernal, Utah and worked for the phone company for my career. I enjoy car racing and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a happily married man, and have been for 39 years. I have a private pilot's license and have belonged to the Civil Air Patrol. My Father was in the U. S. Air Force and therefore we traveled to many parts of the world. I speak some spanish that I learned while we were in Madrid Spain. I have raced Drag race cars, such as a 57 Chevrolet and 69 Camaro. I also worked on a AA/FC Funny Car drag race car. We traveled with the Funny Car out of Denver and raced the Rocky Mountain Circuit. I owned several hot rods including a Model A, Model T and a 55 Chevrolet. Most recently I attended the University of Phoenix online to work toward a BSIT.

Why I am a Mormon

I was living gospel principles and after marrying my bride I was given the opportunity to serve others in the local congregation in Vernal, Ut. I was asked to be the assistant Boy Scout leader and because I enjoyed the outdoors, was able to learn about the gospel by helping others as a scout leader. After running off 5 sets of missionaries, I was asked to listen to some friends from the congregation. The members that I met with taught me the gospel for many weeks. I was asked to be baptised into the LDS Church and met with my Bishop. He told me that I was a "Dry" Mormon and that the members that taught me had mentioned to him that one of them had told the other that I wasn't going to join the church, and the other man told the first that they needed to go back for one more lesson. I know that there are no co-incidences in my conversion, and I know that the LORD has had his hand in my conversion.

How I live my faith

I have served in many positions within the church organizations. I"ve served in a BYU student ward as a leader of young people that attended BYU. This as a great opportunity to serve the youth and build their skills to go into family wards and serve. I've also taught Sunday School, and Primary, which is the young people under 12 years old. Currently my bride and I are serving a mission for the church in the Missouri, Independence mission. We serve at the Independence Visitor Center and the Historic Liberty Jail to teach the visitor about our church's history.
