Hi I'm Gene Bott

I'm a Mormon who grew up Malad, Idaho. I'm working towards becoming a CPA. I have a wonderful wife and a beautiful daughter.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for about three years. We recently received a new addition to our family in our beautiful daughter. We also have two cats named Sasha and Tiberius. I'll finish school this December and start studying for the CPA exam. I also hope to start my career as an Accountant. I enjoy reading and playing video games. I confess, my favorite books and games involve some aspect of science fiction and fantasy. But I love board games and card games also. Politics and history are also interesting subjects to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I love The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The messages shared by its teachings are the messages of the Savior Jesus Christ. These messages help me know and understand who the Savior is and what He has done for me. Because of this I have the hope and promise of an everlasting life with my family. The most important aspect of the gospel of Jesus Christ to me is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I live my life trying to be as good as I can be. Yet I find myself constantly making mistakes and doing things I know I shouldn't in moments of weakness. If it weren't for the Atonement of Jesus Christ, these sins and transgressions would condemn me to a state of endless misery. But, because the Redeemer came and suffered for my sins, I can have everlasting peace and joy. In addition, I know the strength of the Savior can be given to me here to overcome these weaknesses and eliminate them from my life. I have to struggle for a time, but I know I have the promise of His help when I've done all I can. I also love the people of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are such good people who try living their lives as best they can just like me and you. And, just like me and you, they are full of flaws that make it so they need the Atonement of Christ. Fortunately, all of us have the promise of the Atonement if we do our part to partake of it. And it's so simple to use the Atonement. All we are required to do is repent and sin no more. Of course the simplicity of it doesn't make it easy. But it is possible with the power of Jesus Christ in our lives. Finally, I love the knowledge prayer and personal revelation are available to me. I'm not intelligent enough to figure out how to be a good husband and father on my own. If I was left to live this life without guidance, I wouldn't be able to do it. So it's very important to me to know I can pray for guidance and receive revelation as an answer. I know Christ lives. I love that knowledge.

How I live my faith

I have the privilege of living my faith by teaching eight year old boys in an organization called Cub Scouts. In addition I live my faith by just doing what my faith teaches. I try to be honest with my fellow men. I try to be humble (though I'm not so good at it). I try to avoid the degrading things of the world. I try to live a life full of faith and hope. And I try to share messages of faith and hope in my blog and my daily activities. I try to help my family live their faith. I support them in the decisions they make to obey promptings of the Spirit. I also try to obey these promptings. I attend church regularly and participate in the activities of my ward. I also live my faith by trying to give up the weaknesses I have and live a more perfect life patterned after the life of Jesus Christ. I pray for His help to overcome my sins. And I search for people I can help.
