Hi I'm Tom

I am a volunteer firefighter, advanced EMT, father and an avid outdoorsman, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I have been a volunteer EMT/Firefighter for the past 25 years. I obtained my advanced EMT in 2003 and have been working on two ambulances part time. I love to hunt, fish and camp- being out in the mountains is so relaxing and beautiful. I love to work in the yard and garden! We live in the "greenbelt" of Idaho and we can grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables in this climate. From my back deck I have a beautiful view of the Owyhee Mountains and love to sit and watch the storms roll in over the hills. I was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the age of 8 and my testimony of the gospel continues to grow every day. I am the oldest of 5 children, all of whom are still active in the church. My father has passed away, moving on to his next mission in life. I am fortunate to live near my mother who has been such a wonderful example and strength to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were active members of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints and our family goes back many generations of active members. Even though I was born a member, it was still important for me to obtain my own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and be converted to His gospel. I was baptized a member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints at the age of 8. I knew at that time that being baptized was what my Heavenly Father wanted me to do. As I have remained active in the church, my testimony has continued to grow. Serving a 2-year mission was one of the best experiences I have had that has helped my testimony grow. The opportunity I had to teach and baptize others allowed me to feel of the spirit and know that what I was teaching was true. I have a firm testimony of the truthfullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know this church is true. There are so many different religions out there that have partial truths of the gospel, but The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints contains the fullness of the gospel. Many truths were lost during the great apostacy, however, those truths have been restored today through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that we are lead today by a Prophet of God- President Thomas S. Monson and the Quorum of Twelve Apostles, just as the church was organized in ancient times. Jesus Christ is at the head of His Church and leads us today through His servants the prophets. Our Heavenly Father has a wonderful plan for us- the plan of salvation. It's that great plan that will allow us to make it through our earthly test and return to the presence of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going and that is such a comforting feeling. I have a wonderful family and know that through this great plan we will be together forever. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and testify that it is true in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I live the gospel of Jesus Christ every day of my life. It is more than just a "Sunday" gospel. I live my life according to the principles of the gospel so that I can be an example to others. I am honest in my dealings with everyone and do what I can to help others. I have served in many callings in the church- working with the youth as a Scoutmaster, Childrens Sunday School Teacher, Secretary to the Bishop, Missionary, and President of the Elder's Quorum- an organization of the Priesthood (the power and authority to acting in the name of God) for men ages 18 through approximately 50. I serve as a Home Teacher- visting families within the congregation at least once a month teaching them gospel truths and helping them with their physical and spiritual needs. I strive daily to become more like my Heavenly Father and elder brother Jesus Christ helping those in need.
