Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a happy Mormon.

About Me

I am 22 years old and claim Idaho Falls, ID as my home. I have 3 neices and 1 1/2 nephews whom I adore! Sports have always been important to me and I love both watching and playing them. My favorite sport is volleyball and I try to gather young single adults around me to play often. My other hobbies include reading, baking desserts, and playing (harmless) pranks on people. I have recently moved here to Blanding, UT for a nursing job. I graduated with my bachelor's in nursing this year from BYU-Idaho and work on the reservation in home health. I've learned a lot of things about me and the world from working out there. It's so isolated and impoverished that it always prompts me to say a prayer of gratitude for what I've been given and for the opportunity to hopefully do some good out there.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the LDS church because it is only by living the principles taught that we can be HAPPY. Life has more zest to it when you know why you're here and what you're doing! Life is life and it's usually hard, but with the perspective the Church gives me I am able to at least try to see difficult situations as learning opportunities. It is because of this Church that I love life! I find myself wondering why I do the tedious things in life every day when it seems like that's all I do. Because of the Church, I know there is a grand scheme and I'm able to refocus and learn the lessons to be learned. I first found that I knew the Church was true at a week long, Church-sponsored adventure, Especially for Youth (EFY). I had been praying all week to know that what I was being taught there was true. As we sang a song at the end of the week, the Holy Ghost helped me realize with sudden and undeniable clarity that I already knew it was true. I had known it for a long time without realizing it but it took the witness from the Spirit to get through to me. I know it is true and this helps me to live it even when I don't love life as much.

How I live my faith

In my young single adult branch I serve on the compassionate service committee in the women's organization, the Relief Society. I keep my eyes open for those without obvious friends, those who need help in any way, and the opportunity to lift anyone who needs a boost. I appreciate this calling because it prompts me to do the things I know I should do anyways. Besides this formal calling, I try live my religion on a daily basis. I begin and end each day with a prayer to God and study my scriptures daily as well. It is important for me to feel like I progress at least a little bit each day which is an indication that I actually AM living the Gospel. This Church is all about progression and self-improvement which these daily activities promote.
