Hi I'm Wendy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a teacher. Although I am from the United States, it has been my distinct privilege to work at international schools overseas. In my most recent school in China, we had students from over forty different countries! It has been an amazing experience getting to know people from so many different cultures.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. As I grow and mature, I gain a greater understanding of what it means to follow him. I've had a testimony since I was a teenager, and thought I knew then everything I needed to be a good Christian. However, with time I have deepened my understanding of the Atonement of Christ, and have come to a better understanding of how to follow my Savior. The things I have learned as a Mormon have guided me throughout my life. The foundation of my testimony, though, is the knowledge that God the Father, sent His son to this earth to make it possible for me to repent and return to Him. He restored the fullness of the gospel and the authority to act in His name to this earth. Those are things I know through prayer. Because I know this church to be His, I am able to follow the doctrines thereof wholeheartedly.

How I live my faith

As a teacher, I have plenty of opportunities to interact with the community. Some of my favorite and regular interactions have included reading for the blind and donating blood. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to share my blessings with others. Because I work in international schools, we are often given opportunities to serve the global community, from fundraising in the wake of disasters to raising money for local orphanages. There is literally not a month that goes by without multiple ways to serve my immediate and global community. In church I have been working with the children from eighteen months to three years. Each week we learn of Jesus and his gospel. We learn new songs, such as "Follow the Prophet" and "I am a Child of God". We have mini-lessons. One of the recent ones was on showing love to others. We do artwork to support the lesson. And of course we play and practice sharing and being good citizens. I really love working with these little ones, who are so Christ-like already. It has been a real blessing in my life to be surrounded by their unconditional love and their simple, but sure faith.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Service is a key component of my efforts to try and follow my Savior's footsteps. I live in a country where there are few other people of my faith, so if I only tried to serve other Mormons, my opportunities would be very limited. Instead, I am surrounded by people to whom I can reach out in service, and with whom I can work to serve others. Service is one of those things that brings people together and creates bonds of friendship and love. I am glad to be able to serve others of all backgrounds, and to serve with them.
