Hi I'm Dale

I grew up and live in Brisbane, Australia. I am a family man and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to spend time with my family. We like to go for bush walks and hiking with our children. We enjoy going to the beach and away on holidays...see photo of me with a snake on a recent holiday to Darwin. With four children we live a busy life but whenever we get a chance we like to be together and have fun. My wife is my best friend and we enjoy our regular date nights where we can spend some time together away from our busy schedules. I like to be involved in most sports either watching or playing....although as I get older there is less and less of the playing and more and more of the watching. I have been an accountant in the Public Sector for approximately 15 years and have worked in a couple of different State and Commonwealth Public Service Departments.

Why I am a Mormon

Although when I was born my parents were already Mormon's, there came a time in my life when I had to find out for myself rather than just keep following what my parents believed. Little by little I came to realise that what I was taught at home and at church was right. It made me a better person but more importantly it was what God wanted me to do and what He wanted me to become. I love the principles that are taught in church especially those which teach that we can be together as families forever...even after we die. I know that those things that are taught will help us to be happy in this life and be able to draw closer to our families and indeed our loving Heavenly Father. I appreciate all the teachings which help me to understand that I am a son of God, that he really is our Heavenly Father and that we lived with Him before coming to earth and that we can return to live with Him and our families as we do what God wants us to do on earth.

How I live my faith

I like the way that everyone has an opportunity to help out in the church. We can be a sunday school teacher or look after the younger children or even be involved in helping with the youth or young single adults. Because we have a lay ministry (our leaders do not get paid), we each have the opportunity to care for each other. I am involved in visiting a couple of families in our local area on a regular basis to assist them when needed and also to pass on messages from our local leaders. I enjoy mixing with other members of the church in a variety of social, cultural and sporting activities that are held on a regular basis. We don't 'live' our faith just on a sunday. We strive to live it each day as we read from the scriptures as a family each day, we pray and try to be better people. Although it is sometimes very difficult with a young family, we also recognise that anything worth having is not going to be easy...we have to work for it. I try to be a good person at home, in the workplace and in the community. I feel that if everyone was to do the same thing this world would be a better place.
