Hi I'm Jacob

I grew up in Utah. I have 7 siblings and their names all start with J. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah in a good sized town. I have a passion for reading. In fact, I used to read so much that my 6th grade teacher had to give me a limit for how much I could read! I love reading fantasy, science fiction, fiction, mystery and other various books. I enjoy playing basketball, soccer and football, especially with my brothers and sisters. I love learning and trying new things, especially when it comes to eating food, another hobby of mine! I have never met a pizza I didn't like. I went to Brigham Young University for a year, in which I finally decided to become a Bio-medical Engineer. I put that on hold to serve a 2 year service mission in British Columbia, Canada.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a LDS family. As such, I was taught all about the LDS church from a young age. So I just did what my parents told me to do. Pray, read scriptures(Bible, Book of Mormon), go to church. About 12 years old , for part of a youth activity, we watched the Restoration. Towards the end of the movie, about when Joseph Smith's prayer was answered, I felt the Spirit testify to me that he is a prophet. That was the beginning of my own testimony. Since then, I have had many experiences which have helped strengthen and expand my testimony. I have given much thought to what I have heard, what I have read and what I have lived. What I have heard through the LDS church seems to resound within my soul, for lack of better words. It's almost like I knew this before and now I'm just being reminded of it again. Through prayer, I have come to know that God is there and he WILL answer your prayers. He doesn't always answer it in the way that you think or when you want it. But he does answer. God will help you in your times of need and sorrow. He helped me in mine, he'll help you in yours. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet. He translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. The Book of Mormon is God's word to a people who lived on the Americas, centuries ago.

How I live my faith

My Faith has influenced everything in my life, no joke. I am currently serving a full time, 2 year proselyting mission for the LDS church. The decisions I make on a day to day basis are influenced because of my faith. I chose to serve a mission because there are people out there who have not heard the good word; that Jesus Christ died for our sins; that through His grace we can be saved. We show the evidence of our faith by doing things that God would want us to do, following his commandments, repenting and being baptized by someone holding the authority to baptize.
