Hi I'm Nelda

My mother is from Mexico, my father is from Germany and I live in the U.S. I love being part of three cultures. I am a Mormon.

About Me

If you had told me seven years ago that I could be happily married to a wonderful Mormon man and be the mother of three beautiful children, I would have been very surprised. At the time, I had just gone through a stressful life crisis and lived across the country from any family support system, however, I had the support of my ward family. During these tough times, my ward was there for me and most importantly the ward members were great examples to me of what it means to be a Mormon. These days, I enjoy seeing life through our children's eyes. I love introducing music to them and I try to daily play either the harp, violin, piano, organ or the guitar for them. I try to live my life deliberately, both as a mother and as a wife. My husband and I love to travel and go on dates. We especially love minimoons (basically a long weekend vacation but with the air of a honeymoon about it). Our days are busy but we make time to read the scriptures at the end of the night and everything always seems to fall into place.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel incredibly blessed to be a Mormon and to have been born into a family of converts who believed enough to risk leaving friends and family to join the Lord's church on this earth. I am a Mormon because I too know this is the Lord's church on this earth and I know I would not be where I am today if it were not for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Being a Mormon compells me to try to be more Christlike and to strive to have His image in my countenance. I want to be a better person and be kinder to others as I daily read the scriptures which continually strengthen my testimony. I know this is the true Church on the earth and I am so grateful that Heavenly Father gave me the priceless gift of the gospel in my life.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed with great opportunities to serve within our church, especially with the youth. I am so impressed with the bright and shining testimonies of these youth. They are definitely proud to be Mormons. They share some of the crazy things that happen in their high schools these days (makes me feel like I grew up in a Leave it to Beaver sitcom) and explain how they share their testimonies help them through these difficult times. I think I learn more from them than they do from me. I also enjoy sharing my musical talents in our weekly meetings and for special programs. Music can often bring the spirit of peace into a meeting like nothing else can and I feel blessed to have those talents to share with others.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I stare at my newborn baby in awe each day and I know that she came from another and purer world with a loving Heavenly Father. She is a miracle in my life - a miracle that could only given to my by God. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

We can come to know our Father in Heaven by praying prayers of gratitude to him every day, even every minute. The more I witness the miracles in my life, the more I know it is the Lord's hand in my life. Gratitude has helped me come to know our Heavenly Father better because he blesses me all the time.
