Hi I'm Matt

I never moved until before finishing High School. In 13 years since then I've lived in 4 states and 3 countries. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dad with a great wife and two wonderful little girls. I love working on yard projects and am happiest with a chainsaw in my hands. I am a CPA and work as a tax accountant. Despite the boring reputation, it has been an incredibly complex and interesting career so far.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up Mormon in northern Wisconsin, an area with few fellow Mormons, was a challenge that required a throrough examination of my beliefs to ensure there was a purpose to it. It would have been so much easier to just try and blend in. I'm still Mormon today, not because I was born as one, but because I prayed and knew it was true. The teachings of the Bible, Book of Mormon and other scripture contain the guidance that will lead us to live with our Heavenly Father again. Access to that knowledge and the blessings that come with it is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith quietly and simply. While I did serve a two-year mission, I do not actively announce my religious affiliation to everyone I meet. I find that turning down a beer or coffee generally bring plenty of questions. I've served in the church leading the youth group while in England. I actively look for opportunities to help those in our congregation and community. One of my most memorable experiences was drivingwith hundreds of other church members 5 hours to Grand Forks ND and sleeping on a hard church building floor so we could assist with flood clean up in 1997. That is what an understanding of the teachings of Jesus will make you do.
