Hi I'm Whitney Houtz

I am currently a full-time missionary for the church serving in the Florida Jacksonville Mission.

About Me

Right now I'm serving a full time mission in Jacksonville, Florida. I love being a missionary! I love helping others come unto Christ and feel the happiness the gospel brings. I'm a young single adult and a graduate from Brigham Young University-Idaho. I graduated in Social Studies Education. I'm a Social Studies teacher because I love History and Geography. I love to read books and enjoy spending time with my family. I like writing short stories and creating cards. I love to draw and I enjoy reading the scriptures and studying gospel topics.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up being taught gospel principles and attending church each week. When I was a teenager, I decided I wanted to have a real testimony of the church and the Book of Mormon. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was true. I got an answer that has never left me. I know that that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Also when I was a teenager, I wanted to know if prayers were answered. I continually prayed to my Father in Heaven, hoping that I could gain a testimony and know for sure that the church was true. My prayers were definitely answered through trials, people at church, the scriptures, and from listening to General Conference. I live the gospel because I know for a fact that His teachings, and His gospel is true and it will bring me peace, joy, and eternal happiness. I know for a fact that I will see the loved ones I've lost again. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I know He Lives and loves me. I know that only through Him I can be saved through the Atonement if I repent. I know that following His commandments and coming unto Him will bring me joy. When I was a teenager, I lost my mom to cancer. I felt alone and afraid. Through the gospel and because of my Father in Heaven my family and I were able to pull together and get through this tragedy. I know that I am a daughter of God. I know that my mother died for a reason and that I will see her again. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that His gospel is true. I have been incredibly blessed in my life through obedience to the church. My Father in Heaven has poured out His blessings upon my family and I. I am truly thankful that I'm Mormon.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church right now is to invite and help others come closer to Jesus Christ. I am serving a mission in Jacksonville, FL. This is my full-time calling in the church. I've had several different callings in my life. I have been a member of the Presidency over the Relief Society. I've taught classes about different principles and doctrines. I've also been in charge of activities for the Young Single Adult women in my ward. When I was a teenager I was on several different communities for certain youth group activities like dances, traveling to pioneer destinations, conferences, and group outings.
