Hi I'm Kent Skinner

I'm a Dad, a policeman, a golfer, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father and a husband. I am a avid golfer and enjoy fitness and kayaking. I am a retired police officer having spent 30 years as a member of the Ontario Provincial Police focusing my career in emergency response and tactics. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

To be honest I became interested in the Church because of a beautiful lady who is now my wife. I became a member of His church because when I read from the Book of Mormon, listened to the missionaries and listened to prophets speak at General Conference I felt the truth of the gospel. I had such an incredible feeling envelop me, unlike anything I had felt before. I felt like President Monson was speaking directly to me as I listened to his talk, "Choose Ye This Day". I was touched by the Spirit. I was baptized within a month. I remain a member because of the continuing confirmations I have had that this church is led by Jesus Christ. I have seen His hand in the work that is done. I have seen and been a part of His guidance. I am grateful for these opportunities and for the peace the knowledge of the gospel brings to me. I love my Saviour.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 9 years. I have had various callings but currently I am a member of our Stake Presidency.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Kent Skinner
The Book of Mormon prophet Alma compared faith to a seed. If you plant a seed and nourish it, if it is a good seed it will grow and eventually bear fruit (Alma 32:28-43). It is the same with faith. If you are obedient to God’s commandments, study His word, and have a desire to believe in Christ, faith will grow inside of you. As we live a life of service we are trying to emulate the life Christ did while He was on the earth. As we do we will grow in love for our fellow man and in turn we will know that we are in the service of God. We will grow in charity and in faith. Show more Show less
