Hi I'm Chris

I'm a graduate student. I'm a husband and father of three. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in a PhD program studying public relations. I lived most of my life in the west, but the swamps of north central Florida are my home for the next few years. I love to backpack. I have climbed peaks and explored canyons all over the western United States with my dad and brothers. One year we backpacked into Machu Picchu, climbing over a 17,000 ft. pass where we saw an Andean condor and an avalanche on nearby 20,574 ft.-high Mt. Salkantay. I have been married for 11 years and have three amazing children. I served for 2 years as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Guatemala. The Mayan ruins at Tikal in northern Guatemala and the volcano-surrounded Lago de Atitlan in the highlands are two of my favorite places in the world. I also grew to love the Guatemalan people and the Spanish language. Over the past decade I worked as a public relations professional for a municipal government in Utah and the art museum at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I was born into this church and am so grateful that I have had the light of the restored gospel to guide me in this troubled and troubling world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have spent a lot of time in prayer, fasting and scripture study to find out for myself if what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches is true. I believe what the Christ taught about the search for truth: "ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matthew 7:12). I have asked; and I know that the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth in our time through a prophet of God. And I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture that was written specifically for our day that testifies of the divinity and atonement of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am trying my hardest to live my life the way Jesus Christ lived His. He is the perfect example. Everyday I try to become more like Him.

What is faith?

For me faith is more than belief in God. It is trust in his power and perfect knowledge that enables me to act on his commandments with confidence that he will prepare a way for me to obey. Show more Show less
