Hi I'm Skye

I'm a college student, community volunteer, business owner, wife, and expectant mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a girl that enjoys pretty much anything in the outdoors: horseback riding, kayaking, camping, hiking, snorkeling, caving, scuba diving, and birding. My interests are pretty broad and kind of nerdy: astronomy, marine biology, legal studies, history, women's issues, economics, family history/geneology, travel, world religions and cultures. Hobbies/Activities I enjoy: counted cross stitch, watching old movies (The Philadelphia Story and The Thin Man are favorites), reading, cooking, baking, and traveling. My reading preferences are mostly nonfiction: leadership/success books, biographies, political commentary, historical nonfiction, and gospel topics. Although I do love pretty much anything by Agatha Christie and I'm a Harry Potter fan. My employment has been pre

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know the doctrine and teachings to be true. I know that our Heavenly Father would not leave His children on this Earth without proper leadership and guidance and that the leadership should be the same as that found in anciaent scripture. I believe in ongoing revelation through the Holy Spirit of the Lord. I also believe that family bonds and marriage covenants should extend into the eternities. I love research and study and things that make sense logically. While I feel that it "makes sense" to be a Mormon, I also know that there is confirmation that goes beyond having a perfect knowledge. I have witnessed many miracles in my life and in the lives of others through the power of faith, prayer, priesthood, scripture, and temple attendance.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being "an example of the believers" wherever I go. I participate in ward acivities and in Sabbath day services. I hold callings and work to magnify and fulfill them to the best of my ability (I currently serve as a Webelos Den Leader in our Cub Scout Pack). I try to study my scriptures, attend the temple, hold Family Home Evening, and have family prayer on a regular basis (it's a work in progress). I am far from perfect and I strive daily to be a better person than I was the day before. Part of living my faith is to be charitable and compassionate to all people I meet; to remember that they, like me, are not perfect and are striving to be better.
