Hi I'm Jonathan

I play the guitar, I am a missionary and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a convert to the church. I got baptized on August 12, 2007. I am currently on a mission in St. Louis Missouri. Before my mission, i did some college. I am working on my associates degree at a community college and hope to transfer to a university later. I am studing to work in the Aviation field, mostly Aeronautical Engineering..

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to become a member because i really like what the missionaries taught me. They helped to answer my questions that i had. The one thing they told me that really got me interested was about how families can be together forever. Another reason why i choose to convert to the church was because i had gained a deeper knowledge about the Plan of Salvation. Before the missionaries taught me, i knew that there was a heaven, and that we all end up going there someday. But when they taught me the plan of salvation I found out that we all existed before we were born, and that we will all return to Heavenly Father when we die.

How I live my faith

I live my faith the best i can. I try to help out the community by providing service to whoever needs it. I have found that true happiness comes by living the principles of the gospel. By having faith, all things can be made possible. My current calling in the church is a missionary. I am away from home for two years and i go out and share the gospel with others who do not have it currently in their lives. I help them understand why we are here on earth, and why we need the gospel. Because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I know who I am, why I am here, and where I am going after this life.

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Because of heavenly fathers plan, we know that death is a step closer to becoming like our heavenly father. At death our spirits are taken to the spirit world where they rest until the resurrection. The spirit world is a place where we are free from our cares, and afflictions. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

We believe that families can be together forever. It is not a blessing that can last for this lifetime, but for eternity. We lived in families in Heaven before we were born, and because of the blessings we receive in the temple; we can be united with our families forever. Death cannot separate us. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

As a young boy, Joseph smith was surrounded by a lot of churches. He wanted to know which of them were right because they all claimed different beliefs. Joseph wanted to know for himself. One day he was reading in the Bible in the book of James, chapter 1 verse 5 which says "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. " (James 1:5). So Joseph decided to take James advice and ask god. On a spring morning 1820, Joseph went into a grove of trees and knelt down and said a prayer. This is the experience that he had. He said: "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" Josephs prayer was answered by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Joseph was told to join none of the churches that existed at that time as the priesthood authority and Church as Jesus Christ had organized it when He was on the earth had been lost over the centuries. Joseph Smith’s First Vision marked the beginning of the Restoration of Jesus Christ’s Church to the earth. Show more Show less

We are told not to partake of the following: 1. Tobacco 2. Alcohol 3. Tea and Coffee 4. Illegal drugs. On the good note, here are some of the things that we can partake of: 1. Fruits and Vegetables 2. Meat 3. Grains God promises that if we partake of the good things that "we shall receive health in the navel and marrow in the bones, and shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures. And shall run and not be weary, and shall run and not faint. and I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen. " (Doctrine and Covenants 89:18-21). Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

As a missionary, we go into peoples homes and teach them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We also share a message about the Plan of Salvation which helps people to know where they came from, why they are here, and where they are going after this life. Our message that we share, I know is true. As part of our message, we invite people we teach to pray to know for themselves if what we are teaching is true. That is how they feel the spirit and gain a testimony of its truefullness. Show more Show less

Families are important to God. We lived in families in the pre-earth life. God puts us in families so we can experience love, joy, peace, and be able to learn the gospel in a loving atmosphere. One way that has made my family stronger is we teach the gospel in our home. We not only teach it, but we live it. Show more Show less
