Hi I'm Jen

I'm a wife and a mother of 5. I love to read, garden, and work hard. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my life! I dreamed my whole life of growing up to be a wife and mother--and that is just what I have done. (Along the way, I got a bachelor's degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. I also taught school for a couple of years before I had children.) Many ask how I survive life as a stay-at-home mom with five kids. The fact is, it is the hardest thing I have ever done. My life is full as I spend nearly every waking minute trying to care for and keep up with my husband, our small children, and our home. Many days I go to bed physically or emotionally exhausted, but there is nothing I would rather do. I have come to appreciate that the most worthwhile things in life are the ones you have to work the hardest at and sacrifice the most for. And that is how I see my family. Yes, I have had to sacrifice many personal pursuits to stay home and raise a family. And yes, somedays--many days sometimes--are hard and discouraging. But the rewards are priceless. When my children throw their arms around me just because, my heart melts. As I see them reach out to help others, I feel grateful for the privilege of being their mother. When their faces light up when I enter a room, I look at each of them and think, "How lucky I am to get to be a part of this"--and it makes it all worth it. Diapers and runny noses, giggles and kisses--I am living my dream!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contains the fullness of the gospel established by Jesus Christ Himself. I know this because I have studied, prayed, and received a witness that it is true. And I have lived it. The gospel leads to happiness, the greatest happiness possible. As I have tried to follow Jesus Christ and do what He would have me do, I have been blessed with peace and happiness. In the midst of hard times, I have felt the Spirit bring peace, reassurance, answers, and the strength to keep going. Life is not easy. But because I know I am a child of a Heavenly Father who loves me, and because I know who I want to be through the gospel of Jesus Christ, I can better navigate life, and enjoy it. I am not perfect, but I feel great peace as I daily seek to know His will for me and try to live up to it. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I actively participate in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as much as possible. Right now I work with the children in our local congregation. I am part of a presidency that organizes, plans, and teaches the children about Christ and His gospel. I also visit and watch out for several women in my city. I try to bolster their faith and support them in their daily lives. As I serve others in these ways, I feel great satisfaction and peace knowing that I am doing the work that Christ would do if He were here.
