Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a Texas Aggie. I'm a mother of twins. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being outdoors. As a family we enjoy going to different National Parks and collecting their stamps in our National Parks Passport book. I also love reading and history. One of my favorite authors is Charles Dickens, when I get to choose what I read, I usually pick a classic. I graduated from college with a degree in History Education and got to teach Junior High until we had our twins. Before I met my husband I served as a missionary in Spain. I love Spain! Someday I'll go back and show my family all the amazing sites. We just recently moved from Texas which will always have a little piece of my heart. I'm scared for an Idaho winter again after enjoying all the great winter weather in Texas - not to mention all the amazing food and my very favorite - Blue Bell Ice Cream! Being a mom has been an adjustment but I know it's the most important thing I could be doing.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has always been very active in the LDS faith so I grew up attending church and participating in all the activities. I never really searched for myself to know if the LDS church was true until I was getting ready to graduate from high school. I remember finally finishing the Book of Mormon from start to end on my own and realizing that I needed to pray to know if it really was the word of God. I never had an overpowering spiritual experience or manifestation like Joseph Smith or others, rather I just felt a good, peaceful feeling when I prayed and thought about and read from the Book of Mormon. Since then I have learned more about how God sends His Spirit to communicate with me personally and I trust in the simple feelings and guidance that He gives me. To sum it up, I'm a Mormon because the Spirit confirms to me that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I can feel that the teachings and practices of the Church invite me to come unto Christ. "...for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God." (The Book of Mormon, Moroni 7:16)

How I live my faith

During the school year I taught a class about Church Doctrine and History before the youth in our area went to high school each weekday morning. It is amazing to see teenagers getting up to attend a class at 6:45 am on top of all the other activities they have going on with school, theater, choir, band, volleyball, yearbook, jobs, friends, etc. Anyone high school age was welcome to come to these classes and sometimes friends from different faiths would come with some of the young men and women from our congregations. It was an incredible experience to discuss the scriptures and teachings of the Savior almost everyday with these young people. I love how the Church has made me feel involved and like I'm an important part of our congregation even when we have just newly moved into an area where we have no family or friends or other connections. That support has been so wonderful as I try to figure out how to be a good wife and mom, get everything done in my day that I want to (which never happens of course!), and try to live how the Savior wants me to live.
