Hi I'm Alhy

I'm a musician. I'm an artist. I'm a poet. I love languages. I love people. I love God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Mexico City and moved to the US when I was 12. I have only one younger brother and we are very close. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Music. I speak Spanish, English and German. I love languages and different cultures and people. I love all the arts. I love to cook good Mexican eatin' and love to watch people enjoy it. I decided to dedicate a year of my life to serve a mission, and it has been the best desicion I have made in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and throughout my life had experiences that let me know that it really was true. In the words of Amulek, a missionary in the Book of Mormon: "I never have known much of the ways of the Lord, and his mysteries and marvelous power. I said I never had known much of these things; but behold, I mistake, for I have seen much of his mysteries and his marvelous power...Nevertheless, I did harden my heart, for I was called many times and I would not hear; therefore I knew concerning these things, yet I would not know" Through my teenage years I "would not know" that these things were true. Eventually no endeavor distraction or person could stop me from getting to the edge of the light, where one must know. So I read and I prayed. I tested it out. And I got my answer.

How I live my faith

This is so much more than putting on nice clothes and going to church on Sunday. This is the frame in which everything fits and leads and ends in. This is it, this is why we're here. And yet, I do my life. God wants us to be ourselves, and become the best version of ourselves. Through following His will for me, I found who I truly was, and what I truly wanted. Right now I am serving a full-time mission. I never considered myself a very religious person, so I'm still in denial that I in reality do spend all day wearing a skirt and talking to people about Jesus Christ. But there is no more fulfilling work than this. There is nothing more important. Following Christ is the true way of life and happiness. I've seen it change so many lives. Religion is just a word describing how you choose to live your life, and Jesus Christ has set that perfect example for us.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

What the missionaries will typically do is get to know you a little bit and then they will explain their purpose, that is to invite you to come closer to Christ. They will share a message after which they will invite you to find out for yourself if it is true. They will show you how you can get your answers directly from God and have a closer relationship with him. Show more Show less
