Hi I'm Doug

I grew up in Anaheim, California. I love sports, the outdoors, and fantasy hockey. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My favorite hobbies are fishing and reading. I love the outdoors and enjoy gardening. I attended Brigham Young University and graduated in Secondary Education, as a Physical Education teacher. I have been teaching P.E. for 30 years and love it. I have 4 children, who are all married, and I have 5 grandchildren. I enjoy being a Grandpa.

Why I am a Mormon

My father was a member of the LDS church. My mother was a practicing Catholic. I was very active in the youth sports program of the Mormon church and made many lasting friends. My involvement in the sports area led me to be active in other church functions. My friends invited me to BYU, and I accepted, enjoying a year of school at Provo, Utah. I met my lovely wife at BYU and joined the church. We were later married in the Los Angeles temple. I believe in Eternal families and have a strong faith that we will live after we die, with our loved ones. I believe in making lasting commitments, with my family and the Lord, and the Temple affords me this opportunity. I love to serve others and being an active member of the church allows me many opportunities to grow and become a better person. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

As an active member of my church, I help others when they have problems. As a Bishop of the ward, I counsel with people who have problems. I work with people to solve financial and other areas of challenge. I work with young people in the ward. I go on camp outs and other functions with the youth. I enjoy the ward activities and socializing with friends. I teach and help others learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. It makes me feel good to see others grow in their love of the Lord.
