Hi I'm Susan Kay

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am very fortunate to have four wonderful children, three and soon to be four brilliant grandchildren, four step children and one adorable step grand baby. What could be better than that! I have a big heart and a lot of love to share, but the Lord knew eight pregnancies would be more than I could bare, so he blessed me with step children. People say that blending families is a challenging thing to do, and they would be right! In my mind and in my heart the blending was easy. I love and pray for them all as if they where my own. Their wonderful and very likeable people, so it has been easy for me to accept them into my heart as my family. I love being a mother and grandmother, so why not double the joy by doubling the number of children to love. I am a want-a-be singer, artist, gardener, chef, and Linguistic expert. Unfortunately, while I do dabble in these areas, I haven't been blessed with these particular talents, but I do so appreciate them in others. I spent the first fifteen years of my life over seas which opened my eyes to the great love our Heavenly Father has for all of his children around the world. I got to experience the sounds, cultures and yummy taste, that have enlightened my understanding and broadened my hips.I have discovered that I truly love people. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful companion whom I adore. Every day with him is better than the previous day and I am so grateful to be married to him for time and all eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. People ask me if I feel deprived or suppressed by the standards or rules that the members of our church are encouraged to live. I have to say, I have never felt burdened or suppressed by living these standards. If anything, I’ve felt a freedom that comes from good health, clear thinking, and loving relationships. Just as any loving parent gives their children rules to live by our Heavenly Father has given us commandments to protect and lead us to greater happiness. The promised blessings of following His counsel are so wonderful and bring such peace, happiness, and security that it makes no sense to me to do anything to the contrary. I have never had to worry about the results of undergoing a background check, drug test, or contracting HIV. I haven't experienced a nicotine fit or the worries of health concerns that are caused by addiction, or immoral behavior. If you want to drive your car and reach your destination safely, you follow the traffic laws. If you want to return home to a loving Heavenly Father to live in His presence you follow His commandments. It’s that simple. I am grateful that we are lead by a living prophet of God. This world is complex and at times confusing as popular opinions shift almost as quickly as the tides in the sea. I love knowing that my Heavenly Father is just as actively involved and interested in what is going on in the world today as He was in times of old. I prayed with a sincere hear and with real intent to know if the book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith was a true prophet, and I received a powerful witness that both of these things are true. Through this process I realized that my Heavenly Father knows and loves me very much. I show my love for Him by living the commandments to the best of my ability, and when I fall short, I repent and try again. I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

My goal each morning is to brighten the life of each individual I come in contact with. I believe that everything we touch or come in contact with should be better than we found it. I try to smile often, give sincere complements when possible, and assist where needed. Service isn't service unless we have gone out of our way or sacrificed something for another person. I haven't always known how to offer service, but I try not to walk away from an opportunity when it presents itself to me. I love the words to the children's song, "Because I have been given much I too must give. I too must give. Because of my great bounty Lord each day I live. I will divide my gifts from thee with every brother that I see, who has a need of help from me."
