Hi I'm Merlin

I'm a Mormon. Though raised in Weber County, Utah I have lived in the Atlanta area since my mission where I served in AL, GA, SC.

About Me

A devoted husband, father of 7and involved in sales related to the Tire Industry. I have enjoyed many stake and ward callings and love teaching. My missionary service in the Southern States Mission from 1966 -1968 enabeled me to serve in Aiken, Spartenburg, Enterprise, Rome, Huntsville, and Atlanta. It has been amazing to watch the growth of the church in the Atlanta area. From 1 stake to 13. I always wondered why there wern't more saints in the North Georgia area until a few years ago after reading the biography of John Morgan. He spent many years in missionary service in the south and come to find out the majority of the members traveled west to Colorado to extablish settlements by the train load. My hobies and intrests include study of the gospel. Reading major authors like John Grisham, Tom Clancy, James Patterson, and others. Since I travel alot books on CD and Tapes play a large part in my driving pleasure as well as Conferences and talks and lectures by church scholars and leaders. Hugh Nibley, Truman Madsen, Cleone Skousan, John Bytheway have had my ears four countless hours. Paul H. Dunn and David Mikel got me started on this habit. Church related novels from Gerald Lund, Blain and Brent Yourgason, Chris Heimerdinger and others have inlarged my libruary and added to my intertainment, inspiration and confirmation of love of the lord and his works. My wonderful and eternal mate has been my most treasured companion, friend and example.

Why I am a Mormon

Being raised by great parents and continually perticipaating in church meetings and events including seminary as a youth I grew to love the church and serving the lord. Time after time the spirit of the lord has born whitness to me of his love for me and that I was doing his will. At the short time I was estranged from the church I missed the fellowship and the companionship of the lord and was welcomed back. I love the Book of Mormon and the Bible as well as other scriptures and writings of the prophets and apostles. The Sunday meetings always refill my cup and opportunities to provide service continually lift me up. The joy the gospel brings to our lives is amazing. I have amazing children that have caught the same love of the gospel and provide further example for me of the knowledge we are Heavenly Fathers Children. My wife Phyllis is my life. What a great example and support she is to our whole family. She loves the church and is loved by so many in our ward, especially the youth. May you all feal the love of the lord as we do.

How I live my faith

Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a full time opportunity. Whether someone knows I'm a Mormon or not is secondary to their opinion of me being a good person. At home, church, work or play, my goal is to be a consistant positive influence among others. At church the responsibilities of leadership, training, teaching and study bring me great satisfaction. Years ago I faithfully visited a young man that was in the military but was not attending church. He was sent to Germany for a tour of duty and decided to look up the mormon church there. Since then he has remained a faithfull Latter Day Saint. He lives near by and he and his family have served in many church responsibilities. He still thanks me for planting the seeds of activity. I am sure that I was tool of the spirit of the lord this time as well as many other occasions of visiting and friendshipping my brothers and sisters. A favorite activity of mine when visiting and frindshipping is to close by singing the song "Love One Another", then inviting them to pray. This provides a very powerful spiritual influence and great fealing of love for Heavenly Father and the many blessings we are continually recieving. I do love the Lord Jesus Christ for this and many other reasons. In his holy name. Amen
