Hi I'm Michelle.

From the Pacific Northwest - I care about community and the environment. I love my faith, my family, and my "farm". I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Faith. Family. Farm. These are the things that I center my life around. I love my home in Oregon and the life my husband and I have built together. We enjoy spending time outdoors with our dog, doing everything from hiking and camping to our small version of farming. I also love everything domestic. For fun I sew, knit, bake, cook, keep chickens, and garden (among other things). Everything that is historical or old-fashioned holds a particular fascination for me, and I think that is why I have always loved learning about and doing these things myself. I want to learn to make soap, cheese, and lace next. My degree is in architecture with minors in historic preservation and architectural art history. I don't know for sure, but I may pursue a part-time career in non-profit residential design or historic preservation. Who knows, I might even go to graduate school! The bottom line, though, is this: My faith has the power to carry me through any trial. My family is the greatest gift I have been given and they fill my heart with love and gratitude. My farm is the best way I know to provide for and nurture my family in a healthy, sustainable, and glorifying way.

Why I am a Mormon

I first came to the Church in an effort to better understand another person. After learning about the gospel and the plan of happiness, though, I came to understand and know myself better. I learned why I was here and I began to understand my divine nature and potential. When I prayed for answers, I felt the Holy Ghost testifying to me of the truth of this gospel by the feelings of peace and joy I felt in my heart. I know this Church is true. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet brought forth to restore the gospel of Christ to the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our prohpet today. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he willingly died to take away our sins. I know that there is no greater peace or joy on earth than the assurance of eternal families and the knowledge that someday we will return to live with our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

At church I prepare lessons and teach the eleven year old girls in Sunday School. Also, during the week, I organize and lead youth activities. Beyond that, I enjoy visiting and teaching other ladies in our Church. My husband and I make it a priority to serve our church callings faithfully. Our scriptures are easily the most well-read book in our house. We study from them every day and read together from them at night. The Word of God brought to us through the scriptures gives us unmeasureable strength, wisdom, and peace in our lives. I am learning to play the piano and my favorite thing to play is hymns. One of the times I feel closest to the Spirit is when I am hearing instrumental music. I believe that by playing hymns on the piano, I am able to invite the Spirit into my home for the benifit of all my family. One of the greatest things about this Church is that everyone has a part to play. By working together, we are not only able to ensure that everything gets done, but more importantly, that no one gets left behind.
