Hi I'm Jill

I'm a Mormon. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I have a great husband, seven children, and twenty-three grandchildren.

About Me

Besides being a wife, mother, and grandmother, I am a retired high school English teacher. I was a stay-at-home mom until my husband's job loss caused me to return to my first career of teaching when my youngest daughter was a senior in high school. It was a very difficult thing for me, and I spent many nights on my knees asking for increased knowledge and patience in dealing with challenging students. through prayer, I knew that I was doing the right thing, and that the Lord was with me. During my twelve years of teaching, I went back to school and got a Masters and took about 18 additional hours towards a doctorate which I decided to not do. I've written a book about how to have a home nursery school because of the blessing it was in our own children's lives. Now I garden, quilt, read, and try to continue being a good wife, mother, and grandmother.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in the church, in my college years, I dated a non-member who was investigating the church. By the time he had decided not to join, I was in love with him (or so I thought at the time :-)...) , and had to decide what I wanted to do about religion in my life. I investigated some other churches to see if they would be better places for my future family, and I spent a lot of time praying. When all was said and done, I knew without a shadow of a doubt of my own accord, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the only church upon the earth with all of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. With that knowledge, I broke things off with the young man, and then went on to meet and marry my husband. We have been so blessed in these more than forty-years of marriage because of the teachings of the church and the gospel of Jesus Christ. I could never have this peace in any other place.

How I live my faith

After holding a number of callings in the Church, most recently in Family History and as a Temple Worker, my husband and I have recently received a calling to serve as Public Affairs missionaries in the Caribbean Area. This calling, which will involve our working with local civic and government leaders, will require my learning Spanish and brushing up on my French. Right now, I am excited, nervous, overwhelmed, and happy to be preparing for this opportunity to serve the Lord full-time for the next 23 months. Our children and grandchildren have been enthusiastic and supportive which makes this assignment so much easier. So off we will be going on a new adventure...
