Hi I'm Sara

I grew up in Washington state. I am a college student. I love old people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 26 years old, single, and am in my final year of college. My major is Family Studies with a minor in Gerontology as well as provisional certification as a Family Life Educator. I am currently doing an internship with a local hospice agency. I love to read and have many books on my summer reading list. Since I am a college student, summer breaks are the only time I have to read books other than textbooks. I love music and play the flute, alto saxophone, acoustic guitar, and I am teaching myself how to play the piano. I thrive on being with people, I love to talk and to get to know people.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was two years old, my parents learned of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They learned of the gospel of Jesus Christ and of the Book of Mormon and believed it to be true. However, they have not always been regular church goers or lived all of the teachings of the Mormon faith. When I was 14 years old, a neighbor invited me to an activity for young women at church. I enjoyed the activity and made many new friends and saw many friends and acquaintances there from school. I decided to attend the church services that Sunday. Almost from that time on, I have been a faithful Mormon and a regular church attender. I am Mormon because I love the teachings of this Church, which are the teachings of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I have read the Book of Mormon and I know it to be true. I have asked God, my Heavenly Father, if the Book of Mormon is His word and His teachings. Through the feelings of the Holy Ghost, I have received my answer: that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's church on earth, that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God and that God reveals His teachings through prophets today. I am a Mormon because these teachings bring me comfort in a world of pain and suffering. I know that living the standards of the gospel of Jesus Christ brings true happiness. I am a Mormon because I do not want to live this life without the help of my loving Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading from the Book of Mormon and Bible on a daily basis and through sincere prayer with my Heavenly Father. I know that when I pray, He is listening to me and He cares about my trials, my hardships, my failures, my successes, and my joys. I live my faith by attending church each Sunday and taking the sacramental bread and water which symbolize the atonement of Jesus Christ. I get to know the members of my ward (congregation). Life is hard and we all need help sometimes. I am grateful for those of my ward who love and care about me and who are there for me when I need them. In turn, I love and care for them and want to help them whenever they are struggling. The ward that I attend is located in a college town and is for those who are single and between the ages of 18 and 30. I love being able to go to church with men and women who are going through the same things as me (college, dating, employment, etc.). I am involved in my church's women's organization. There I find friendship and have the opportunity to learn more about the gospel with women like me. When I was 21, I decided to serve a mission in order to share my beliefs with others. The leaders of this Church prayed about where I should serve as a missionary and through revelation, the Lord asked me to serve in the Japan Nagoya Mission. For 18 months, I put my college education and my dating life on hold in order to learn Japanese and share my beliefs with the people of Japan. I wanted to serve a mission because I knew that the Book of Mormon was the word of God, that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and that by living His gospel we can find peace in this life and return to live with our Father in Heaven. Everyday, I choose to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. And everyday that I choose to follow the commandments of my Heavenly Father I am blessed to find peace and joy.
