Hi I'm Josh Hjelmstad

Im attending BYU. I love my wife's baked goods. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up loving sports and have played pretty much all of them. I found my passion in high school when I went out for the water polo team. I love staying fit and still continue to play sports as often as I can. My parents were baptized in the church when they were newly married. I have three beautiful sisters that I love spending time with. I was a missionary for two years in Rosario, Argentina and learned how much God loves His children. I married the girl of my dreams in August of 2014.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and loved the many friends and activities that came along with it. It wasn't long until I found myself at the point in my life that I had to ponder about my own testimony of the gospel. I had been taught everything and anything about the restoration of Christ's church here on the Earth in the latter days but tested myself to see if I actually believed in what was being taught. I followed Moroni's promise in Moroni 10:3-5 and asked my Heavenly Father if the things that I had learned were true. I was assured through the comfort of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon was indeed true and that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of God. After I gained the foundation to my testimony I saw my testimony grow stronger and stronger through prayer, scripture study and applying and incorporating the things I learned in church into my life. My love for the Savior grew as I came to understand the power of the Atonement because of the peace and joy that I felt as I used it. As a member of this church I have been blessed with what I think is too many blessings. I decided to serve a mission and spread God's love. In Argentina, I learned a lot about myself and about how God knows us perfectly. The ups and downs that we all go through are so different but so perfect for our growth. God knows us individually and wants to help us. I'm a Mormon because I couldn't picture myself without it in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through personal scripture study and prayer, as well as staying involved at church. I think that we must solidify our testimonies by continually "Feasting upon the word of Christ," (2 Nephi 32:3) by reading the scriptures daily to help invite the joy that the gospel brings into our lives. I also love how the church keeps everybody involved through activities for everybody. I play basketball at the church every Thursday night and love every minute of it. Since my extended family is not members of the church I rely on the support of my "ward family" to help me keep myself headed in the right direction. I enjoy the many personal relationships that I have had with people as a member of the church and am thankful for the examples the are to me as I progress in the gospel and gain a stronger testimony.
