Hi I'm Matt

I like the outdoors. I'm a dentist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with five children. I live in North Georgia and enjoy anything outdoors, but mainly camping, hunting, and fishing. I enjoy playing video games with my kids (but they can always beat me). I'm a general dentist and enjoy helping people improve and maintain their smiles.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the LDS Church, but when I was a teenager I rebelled a lot and wasn't too interested in doing the right things. When I was 18, I realized that I wasn't happy with my life and I needed to make some changes. I decided to learn for myself whether the Church was true and if I wanted to live it like I knew I should. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed and came to a realization that I really did know the Church had been restored and that it is led by a living prophet. It's strange to some people that I believe in a prophet in these days, but I truly believe that God loves us in the 21st century just as much as he loved his children in the Old and New Testament. If he loved his children enough back then to send prophets to lead and guide them, then I think he would send prophets to lead and guide us today--especially when the world is so confusing.

How I live my faith

I'm not the best example of a Mormon, but I try to treat others honestly and kindly. I abstain from tobacco and alcohol, and that sometimes brings up interesting conversations. One thing people who know me learn very quickly is that I'm always busy with one service project or another. We believe in helping those around us, so that keeps us moving! I was just in Alabama after the devasting tornadoes and spent hours cutting and clearing trees with a chainsaw, alongside dozens more men from our congregation who also went to help. It feels good to be giving service without reward and we are greatful for other faiths and churches that help communities, as well.
