Hi I'm Ali

I am a daughter and a sister. I am a college student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of 4 children. I love being an aunt and some day I want to be a mother. I am working toward getting my bachelors degree in Nursing. I love to read. My favorite genre is historical fiction or books based on true stories such as The Hiding Place, but I also love books like Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia. I like watching sports, but I'm not very good at playing them.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe this to be the true church of God. While I believe that all denominations have elements of truth, I believe the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be the only church to have a fullness of the gospel. I grew up in a family active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was taught to pray to my Father in Heaven and I have done so to receive a witness of the truths of his gospel. I have read the Book of Mormon and I believe it to be the word of God. I'm a Mormon because of the immense peace and happiness I feel through following the commandments and the teachings of this church. The commandments are not restrictive, but rather they are protective. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings a message of love and of hope and the truth of these things have been made known to me through the whisperings of the Spirit and through my personal communication with my Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example of charity and love. I study the scriptures - both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I attend my weekly church meetings and activities. I pray daily to my loving Father in Heaven who I know hears and answers my prayers. I strive to be an honest and hard worker both in my employment and my education. I have also decided to live my faith by serving as a full time missionary for 18 months to preach the gospel to the people in the area where I have been called.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ - a scriptural text like the Bible. In our church we believe that not only the Jews in Israel knew about Jesus Christ, but that the people living in the America's also knew about his life and ministry. The Book of Mormon is a record of those people and a witness of their belief in Christ. At the end of the book, the prophet Moroni asks us to remember the mercy of God as evidenced throughout the book and in our own lives. He then asks us to pray to our Father in Heaven to know if the things in this book are true and promises that if we ask with a sincere desire to know the truth, we can know through the Spirit of the Holy Ghost that these things are all true. The Book of Mormon is a witness of His love and mercy. Show more Show less
