Hi I'm William

I'm a nerd that loves technology, a husband that deeply loves his wife, and a very nervous, soon-to-be father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a product manager at an internet search company. I've been into computers since I was young, getting a degree in computer science before getting an MBA. My wife and I have been happily married for four years, and we love new experiences. I have lived in eight different states and two countries, and we have visited many more states and countries. Every weekend my wife works to find something new for us to experience. Now we are preparing for our next big experience - our first child.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are active members in the Mormon church, and they raised us in a loving home where they taught us the gospel of Jesus Christ and the principles of faith, repentance, charity, and service. I have been praying to my Heavenly Father and receiving answers to those prayers since before I can remember. I know that God lives, He loves us, and He has a plan for us to grow and develop so that we can become like Him that we might find eternal happiness. I have studied and experienced many Christian and Non-Christian religions, in part to be culturally sensitive in the areas where I am visiting or living, but also to understand what others believe. In all the religions I have studied, I find many truths. However, only in the Mormon church do I feel a deep burning conviction that this is the church that God has established to lead his children safely home to him.

How I live my faith

I try to live as best I can. I try to be kind and patient. I try to be the best husband, and soon I will try to be the best father I can. I know I am not perfect, and that is why I am thankful that our Heavenly Father prepared a way for me to become a better person by providing a Savior for us, even Jesus Christ, the one anointed to take away our sins and prepare a path whereby we may become perfect and one day return to live with our families and loved ones with our Father in Heaven.

What is faith?

I am logical to the extreme - like Spock from Star Trek extreme. I take nothing at face value, and I question everything. People who know me are sometime surprised when I talk about faith because they have difficulty reconciling why someone like me believes in things that can't be proven. Faith is a principle of power. There is nothing accomplished without faith. For example, every project we ever work on is done on faith - faith in the people or team to execute, faith that the project will be beneficial, and faith that it can be achieved. If we didn't have that faith, then we wouldn't have started that project. By extrapolation, everything we have achieved or created was accomplished through faith. Likewise, through faith, our Father in Heaven created this wonderful world for us so that we could come here to have the experiences we need to grow and become like Him. And if we are to become like Him, then we need to have experiences which develop faith like He has. Faith is like a muscle, it has to be exercised to become strong. And like a good exercise coach, Heavenly Father purposefully gives challenges and experiences so that we can develop faith. The way to exercise faith is to try it, and if it is rewarded then faith strengthens and grows. Though many experiences trusting in God and Christ, I have come to develop faith to know that God lives, He loves us, and He wants us to be happy. Show more Show less
