Hi I'm Jonathan "Chevy"

I was born and raised in Florida. I love music in all its forms. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 21 years old and am a total goofball. I can't get through a day without some kind of a joke. I love music, and I play a couple different instruments--piano being my main. I love learning new stuff to play and do on the piano. I love listening to all types of music, but my guilty pleasure is metal. I love anything to do with the water--swimming, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, and any kind of water sport. I grew up in Florida and spent most of the summers either in a pool or on the beach. If I have water nearby I'm happy. Yes, I HAVE wrestled a gator, and intend to again as soon as I get back to Florida. I attended Brigham Young University for a semester trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life--my current goal is medical doctor. I'm serving as a missionary in the Nevada, Las Vegas Mission, and will finish in June of 2013.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know it's true. I was raised in the Church, and as such many people ask if I only believe because my parents told me to. But I learned it for myself through study and prayer. One day when I was about 15 years old, a young man who had returned from serving as a missionary about a week before challenged me. He said that if I hadn't yet prayed to know if the Book of Mormon--and thus the Church, Joseph Smith and his successors as Prophets, and the knowledge that Jesus Christ is my Savior--was true, I needed to that night. I needed to read from the Book of Mormon with that question, and then sincerely ask if it was true or if it was all fake. So I took his challenge. That night, I read my favorite passage-- I know for a surety that this is the true, restored Gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth because I asked for this knowledge from my Heavenly Father, and He answered my prayer. The Spirit testified to my heart--the best feeling in the world overwhelmed me as I prayed. I know for a fact that the Lord will answer my prayers, and this knowledge gives me the strength to continue on through every hard time I have.

How I live my faith

I played the piano for the primary children for about a year and a half. When I was 17, I was in charge of organizing the activities for myself and the other boys my age for our weekly youth night. In college, I was assigned to visit a few of the other students in my ward as a home teacher, and basically be their friend who they could call whenever they needed help. I was also the Family History specialist for a group of about 8 people, helping them with their genealogy research. I'm serving now as a Missionary in The Nevada Las Vegas Mission.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Are Mormons Christians?

Jonathan "Chevy"
Our church's name isn't "mormons." It's "The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints." So, do we believe in Jesus Christ(a.k.a. are we Christians)? Yes. Show more Show less
