Hi I'm Gabriel

I'm 21 years old, I'm from Oregon, I like to create things, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into a wonderful family and I was raised on the teachings of Jesus Christ. I am the youngest of 5 children. I have come to know through lots of prayer, studying, struggling, and ultimately through the power of The Holy Ghost that Christ is my Saviour and by that same power I have learned for myself that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet of God and that he restored Christ's church and His full gospel to the earth.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was younger I liked being Mormon because the Church is the only thing in my life that seems to make any sense. This world is filled with choas and disorder, but the Church is structured and focused on clear, simple ideas. It's peaceful. But as I've grown older I've come to know through personal revelation that this Church is true. That God exsists and loves us, his children. That God sent his son, Jesus Christ here to atone for our sins. And that if we take advantage of the Atonement by repenting of our sins and striving to live in occordance with the laws and commandments of God we can grow to be like him and attain eternal progression.

How I live my faith

I'm currently on a 2 year mission where I spend almost all of my time teaching people about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I don't work, go to school, go on dates, or have any time consuming hobbies other than studying the scriptures for these 2 years. And when I get home I will go back to school, and I hope to become a small business owner. No matter what I end up going into for work or hobbies or anything I will always do my best to live worthy of the presence of the Holy Ghost, and I will always do my best to live the commandments so that I can be filled with the Light of Christ. As I do this others will recognize that light in me and I will have opportunities to share the gospel with them so that they can have that light in their lives as well.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a "Mormon" means that I have access to a modern-day prophet and a fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the ground that I stand on, often in the scriptures it is compared to a rock. Personally I like to think that just about everyone in this world is founded on this rock, or in other words, everyone has some sort of religious belief. The problem is that a lot of people haven't really defined their metaphorical rock yet and it's really hard to build off of something when you don't really know what that something is. And a lot of people who have defined their rock have incorrect definitions of it, lots of people believe in things that simply are not true, and it's also very difficult to build off something when you think that something is different that what it really is. As I mentioned before, being a mormon means that I am led by a Prophet who always teaches the gospel correctly and fully, I have access to a fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, my rock is defined and clear and I can use it as a firm and sure foundation. I have the peace that comes from knowing that what I build off of my beliefs is unbreakable, because of the rock upon which is it built. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

I do believe that the Bible is the word of God. It was written by Prophets as they were influenced by the Holy Ghost and it can certainly help people grow closer to God. I am also grateful for the additional scripture that God has revealed to the world through other prophets, namely: The Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is our Father. He created us, he loves each of us individually, and he wants all of us to be happy, to be able to return to live with him, and to become more like him. He is also all-knowing and all-powerful. He has a body of flesh and bones just like the bodies he has given to us except his is perfected and immortal. God's ultimate goal, and hopefully ours too, is to get us to become one with him. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

My faith in Jesus Christ helps me to love others more because it gives me a better understanding of who people are. They are children of God with divine potential, they are people who my Savior was willing to give his all for. It also gives me a larger perspective, I know that because of Jesus Christ I can be with my loved ones forever, I am building relationships that will last for all eternity, not just for this short mortal probation.
