Hi I'm Jason

I'm from San Jose, California. I am a Chemical Engineer working in the semiconductor industry and I have 3 teenage kids.

About Me

I enjoy music and started playing the guitar when I was 10 years old. Other hobbies include computers, reading, and baseball. My education is in Chemical Engineering and I have worked in the semiconductor industry for 18+ years. My family keeps me busy - with 3 teenage kids. My oldest daughter is now off to college. I have been married for over 20 years and enjoy spending time with my wife. We have extended family close by, and always enjoy time at holidays and special occasions together. I also enjoy being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the many opportunites that provides me and my family to learn about the more important things in life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was already part of the church, but I needed to find out for myself if it was something I really believed in. When I was 19, I wondered if I should serve a mission for the church. After praying about it, I really felt that it was the right thing to do, and I began to study the Book of Mormon. I served a 2 year mission in the Raleigh, North Carolina. It was a great experience, and one that really strengthed my understanding and conviction of the truths I had learned growing up. After returning from my mission, I continued to serve in the church and have had many wonderful experiences that have strengthened my testimony along the way. One of the greatest of those moments was being married in the Oakland temple. Our family enjoys attending church and the great opportunites that provides us on a regular basis to serve and learn about the gospel in action.

How I live my faith

Knowing about the teachings of Jesus is one thing, but striving to live them in your life is quite another. I have always wanted to be a good person and have tried to live by the question "What would Jesus do?". One of the ways I have found to help in this journey of becoming more like Jesus is to serve others. I have served in various roles in the church including teaching, working with young men (ages 12-18), and also men of my age (ages 18-40). I have always been a Home Teacher, which gives me the opportunity to meet with several families each month in their homes. Myself and a companion (currently my son) will meet with them for a short visit to get to know them, bring an uplifting message, and support them with any needs they have. There are regular service opportunities in the Church for all ages that allow my family to participate together. My wife and I also go to the Temple, where we do service work for others. All of these things help put the gospel principles into action, which is really what makes the difference. I enjoy reading the scriptures, including the Bible and Book of Mormon, but there is a special feeling you get when you actually put the teachings of Jesus into practice and see the joy it brings in people's lives. I can see the impact that makes in the lives of my children also, and these experiences make lasting impressions on them that have helped them become the good young adults that they are becoming. I am thankful to be a Mormon!
