Hi I'm John

I'm a 4th generation Latter-day Saint and in the south, that's pretty unusual.

About Me

I've lived in Georgia all my life. I married Angie and we had three beautiful daughters. Angie passed away in 1999 from cancer. 8 years later I married Melanie. I've worked in Theater and television most of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

In 1898 two missionaried visited my G-G-Grandparents in Henry County, Alabama. Their son John was a baby and he was given a blessing where he was told that he would be the means of his family coming into the church. 14 years later, John found a "Joseph Smith Testimony" tract left years before. He wanted more information but the only address on the tract was Zion Publishing Co. Salt Lake City ,Utah. He wrote the publishing company and after a while a box arrived with a Book of Mormon and many other tracts. Uncle John converted his entire family and they were baptised in a creek in January of 1912. We have now over a hundred years contact with the church and in the South, that's pretty unusual!

How I live my faith

Born in 1953, I've always been active in church. As a youth I was involved with Roadshows which developed my love for the stage. I've held many positions in church and I suppose teaching the youth is my favorite. Since I was a young man, I have been told I look a lot like Joseph Smith. I've portrayed the Prophet in many plays and visited many church historic sites as Brother Joseph. It's very humbling to see the prophet come to life in the eyes of young children.
