Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a daughter and a sister. I'm a nursing student. I love my fluffy dog. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hi! My name is Rachel. I am the oldest child of six and the only daughter. I am twenty-one years old, and I absolutely love my family! It is so much fun having five brothers! Right now I am not with them because I am serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England. I love sharing the message that has infinitely blessed me and my family! When I return home, I will go back to nursing school. Nursing is so great! I chose this profession because I love people and helping those who are incapable of helping themselves. Besides, the human body is incredible! I think it would be healthy for everyone to regularly ponder for a few minutes about all the things their bodies can do. In addition to serving the Lord and being a nurse, I enjoy playing the piano, reading, playing with my adorable puppy, and watching the sky. I really like to have fun, too! My friends and I are always laughing and coming up with new (slightly crazy) ideas. Smiling and laughing are the best!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, but that doesn't mean that I don't have a conversion story! Even though I've been a member my whole life, I have had to learn things for myself. One of the things that I love about this church is that nobody wants you to follow blindly. I have gained a testimony by trying out what I have been taught and seeing the results. It didn't happen all at once, but I have found that when I live in accordance with the commandments, I am so much happier! We talk about the gospel being "The Plan of Happiness." I know that it is true! I have so much joy because I know that I have a Savior who died for me and then was resurrected. His atonement makes it so that even though I'm not perfect, I can still return to live with my Heavenly Father. What's more is that I can be there with my family for eternity! The knowledge that there is a life after this and that we have the opportunity to be together forever is fantastic. I love the gospel, and I know it's true. That is why I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon has always been a huge part of who I am. I have always been involved with Sunday meetings, callings, weekday activities, etc. However, as a full-time missionary, I have the wonderful opportunity to not only live my faith but to share it with everyone I meet! And I get to do it every moment of every day! I know the gospel can and will bless the lives of everyone who will accept it. However, to me, being a Mormon is so much more than just the motions (though it is a big part). Being a Mormon is the way I think. I am mindful of my language and the way I dress; I want to uplift others and show that I respect my body. I try to be like Jesus Christ in the way I speak and in the things I do. This means praying and studying the scriptures daily and thinking of others before I think of myself. At least, I try to. Being a Mormon is not the same as being perfect, but I'm working towards it!

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I do! His name is Thomas S. Monson. God has given prophets to His people throughout history because He loves them and wants them to have direction. Ancient prophets have served as the Lord's mouthpiece and have declared His will through revelation. God has not stopped loving His children and so He has again restored the priesthood and living prophets to the earth! It is such a blessing to know that we receive modern revelation and get to hear the voice of a true prophet several times a year. Show more Show less
