Hi I'm Linda

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mormon and I live in Minnesota at the present time. I have a BS Degree in Music Education and have worked in University libraries putting my husband through school all the way from Bachelor to PhD degrees. I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and grew up in Utah. However, with my husband, I have lived in many different States (from east to west and north to south - some of them twice) and have also lived in Germany for awhile. We were not blessed with children, but we have lots of nieces and nephews as we are both from large families. I spend my time now doing a lot of genealogy research (or family history) on my own and my husband’s lines. I also enjoy crocheting afghans in my spare time. I have six brothers and a sister and we all (along with my husband) love to camp in the mountains and enjoy nature and fishing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and my family roots go back to the time of Joseph Smith and the early Mormon Pioneers. Like everyone else, I have had to decide for myself whether I was going to follow the teachings of the church or not. In college, I took classes in philosophy, a class on world religions and I took classes in the LDS Church Institutes of Religion. I have compared the other philosophies and religions to my own and I find that I agree with the Mormon faith. I have read and studied the Book of Mormon and have asked God if it was true and received an answer to my prayers that it is true. I can truly say that I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. I know that my daily prayers are answered and that God knows me personally and is very aware of me and my problems in life. I have felt His hand guiding me as I have truly sought Him out in prayer. I know that Jesus is the Christ and that He really lives and that He will come again very soon.

How I live my faith

I am a Family History Consultant in my branch (small unit of the church). I help others in the Branch do their family history and genealogy. I also work with the children from ages 3 to 12, teaching them about the gospel and who Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father are. I serve as a Temple Ordinance Worker in the St. Paul Minnesota Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints twice a month. Temples are very special houses of the Lord and are different than a regular meeting house or church. Only members in good standing are allowed in the Temples, not because they are secret, but because they are very sacred holy places where members learn about eternal truths and make sacred covenants, such as eternal marriage and baptism for someone who is dead for whom the member stands in as a proxy. We believe that the family can be together forever and the temple is the only place that seals a family together for eternity not just for this life only. Death is not the end at all. It is a necessary step in the plan of our Heavenly Father for us, His children to get back to Him.
