Hi I'm Tara

I grew up in Boise, Idaho. I became a Registered Dietitian and now stay at home with my 3 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to cook. Not all dietitians like cooking, but I do. I also love to read. I go to 2 book clubs and really enjoy voicing my opinion about literature. It's hard sometimes to find good literature and entertainment that's not written just to be sensational- but it's out there. I have backyard chickens and that's an adventure. Having 3 kids is my newest challenge.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born to active members of the LDS church, I had to find out for myself if it was true. In my teens I started questioning everything I had been taught since I was baby. It all boiled down to whether or not the Book of Mormon was true or not. I had a copy by my bed because I had been taught to read it every night. I saw it there and knew that there was NO WAY a young man- any young man had made up that book. It had to have come from God. Which meant that that young man (Joseph Smith) was a prophet and that the other revelations he had had were true too. Everything fell into place- like a tower being re-built after I tore it down in my mind. From that point on, everything I heard at church and read in the scriptures seemed brand new. Now, as a young mother of a growing family, I also recognize how important the structure of the church is to me and my family. It is a great source of friends who we can serve and are constantly serving us - it provides a family away from family. Church is a place we learn to speak in public, work with others and take and delegate responsibility. We learn to be better people at home and wherever we go.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in ways that are hard for me. If I am asked to do something and it makes me stretch my talents and energy, I learn how much more talent and energy I have. For example- I was asked to be the chorister at church. I am not a musically trained person and I was terrified to stand in front and lead the music. But with the training provided online by the church, I was able to learn how to lead and now it's one of my favorite things.
